Black Market to buy options?!?

What would be nice if we could actually buy items from the black market.....
Then run the gauntlet trying to leave the station without being scanned.

Interesting idea, but i’ve always found getting out unscanned the easy part (take VIP passengers for that experience); lift off, aim for slot, lean on the afterburners, don’t hit anyone.

Getting IN is an art. There are many here that are better equipped to comment on it.

It's always bothered me that black markets only trade in one direction. What are they doing with all these contraband goods if they aren't selling them? Is there a black marketeer sitting there with no money left but a huge pile of nerve agents?

What would they sell?
The purpose of the black market is to provide an avenue of supply for goods to the populaion of a system/station that are prohibited in that system.
Why would you buy goods at inflated black market prices when you can buy them cheaper and legally at their point of manufacture in the next system over?

From a smuggler...

The point of the Black Market is to fence off goods that you technically shouldn't have in your hold.

It is not there as a source. You can buy illegal goods anyway, as they are not illegal everywhere.

Buy slaves from some nasty anarchy, smuggle them into Sol.

I have never considered the "what would they sell" angle of this before, but it makes sense that as PF members we have ridiculous freedoms compared to many dirtsiders or one-sys ponies, and don't really need anything illegal that we can't just fly over and get at the legal store for cheaper. So it's not a galactic or a pilot's black market, as in "for pilots to get stuff for themselves"; we're supplying the local system's black marketeers with our unlimited access to all the things.

What would be on a for-pilots black market? Unrestricted navcomp programs? Custom seating? Canopy wipes?

After further consideration, I have come up with a couple of ideas for things they could sell, neither of which are currently in the game:
1. Commodities that are illegal everywhere.
2. Rare goods that aren't available because the controlling faction where they are produced restricts their sale.

These could be bought and sold only via black markets. It would just be like A B trading but with some added risk.

I actually can't think of something that would be illegal everywhere as compared to regular market items, that isn't a navcomp haxxor.

Unrestricted slavery isn't even illegal everywares, so if you can already legally buy a hold of starving children sat next to crates of landmines and Onionhead, I can't imagine what specifics would be on the BM Buy tab. I used to be much more sure of this idea till I tried to make an item listing.

I would like access to restricted rares at crappier prices if the system's got the market locked down; that would save having to flip a system unless you want good pricing on the rare in question.

Black markets should randomly have odd commodities for sale. Sometimes you could find something rare, sometimes you could find illegal cargo at discount prices. Sometimes you would receive a bounty for buying something, sometimes a mission would be generated. This sort of thing would make black markets more integrated part of this game.

There should be a full production, supply and demand system for the black market, with mission givers too.

That's what I was hoping, it just seems wrong that you can only sell at the black market.
I would like it if you were struggling to get materials for engineering or guardian/thargoids materials that you could buy these of course at an extortionate rate as that's what a black market is all about.
To buy things you would struggle to find or get.

That would be great.
Following on from my later post in this thread, I think it would be fantastic is locked rares could be bought on the black market. Should Lave be overrun with puritans, I would expect void opal level prices for Lavian brandy. And at Hutton? Name your price!
