Blackmarkets, why don't they sell anything.

Just like the title says, seems illogical to me, i can sell illegal stuff to them, so why can't i buy stuff that is illegal in that station, even if only a small selection and at a higher price and maybe marked stolen if need be, but would help with missions.

Is there a specific reason the devs don't allow this, any thoughts.

Good point!

Add me in as one that wondered about it. I might want to swap some stolen data for a nice load of illegal narcotics or something.

I think it could even add to gameplay, checking them out if your looking for something for a mission, and as said above, you could swap illegals as needed, and imagine having to smuggle stuff OUT of a station, full boost to avoid scans.
Or being chased flying from the station.

+1. Also black markets should offer above-average prices for goods that are illegal locally. I'm cool with only getting half price for a can of domestic appliances that fell off the back of a T6, but slaves/narcotics/sugar should fetch a premium. This would open up smuggling as a fun high-risk-high-reward activity for traders.

Given the fact that you have to choose the "sell illegal goods" option when selecting the black market, I'm sure it is open ended for future content.

I like this also +1

What about special black market missions... to get some serious high risk smuggling into the game.

[edit] That ole Babelfisch was just faster than me :D

yes as in the real world, illegal drugs and rare goods fetch a high price, might make smuggling a worthwhile profession, as just now, i don't bother unless i need to for a mission.

I hope post 1.2 Frontier come back and do a smuggler patch. Even in 1.3 adding the ability to buy stolen goods and sell them in more places would be a start. Also after having visited a station it would be good to see a marker added to the map so you know where to go back to (or maybe a feature to buy the information, or get some information from NPCs)

Another option is to use a similar mechanic to the now defunked Luxury traders, but instead have illegal dealers in various USS, that can buy & sell illegal goods. It would actually make sense then to remove black markets from stations, and have them out in space. (as dealing illegals inside a station is a bit unrealistic)
We could then have NPC police patrols scanning and attacking anyone found dealing or carrying illegal goods.

Dont think they've been ready to support black market sales whilst they have been fixing and balancing normal trade.

They tinkered a while back with deep space smugglers buying luxury goods but that didnt go far.

Plus they still haven't fixed reputation impact from having illegal goods on board.

Right now even selling goods bought legally in one system on the black market in another system results almost always in a 50 per cent loss.

If they have sales in the black market then everyone will be hostile with everyone within a day. It's too broken for them to build on.

I think smuggling does need some love. It should technically bring in a decent amount more than trade due to the hugher risk involved but at the moment trade seems to have a much better turn over with profit.
