Blatantly unfair - wipe necessary

Dabba... You're assuming that those of us who made millions did it exclusively using exploits?

So, OK.. lets assume that some did use exploits to gain their credits... How does this affect YOUR game?

As a beta tester that hasn't even seen a Rare Commodity, let alone traded any, I find your outlook a little hard to understand.

I read it as you believe it unfair that this exploit was available to some but not you?

Just knuckle down and enjoy the experience of being out there. It isn't a race, there is no end game and no script. Well, unless you want to race to the money prize, and if that's the case then everyone started from the same point; pre start date accounts needed to be reset to join in.

All beta accounts were wiped. Only gamma accounts have stayed, and that was only a couple days, and I believe the rare material nerf was already in place. I don't trade, but I seem to remember reading a few threads about it during the gamma test phase.

I have played since PB and kept my CMDR from gamma.
Well i have currently 1,7 Mil credits in assets, not cash.
If you think trading is slow, try piracy.

There are several people with big bucks on their heads out in the void,
why not adapt to the changing game and do something else, apart from mindlessly trading?

I don't understand how you can make such a massive change to earning potential like you did with the rare commodity nerf on basically the second day the game is out and still make the choice to not have a system wide wipe of the beta accounts. Allowing the beta players to abuse what you apparently considered an exploit based on the changes and keep the millions of credits they stockpiled is just so blatantly unfair to the people that did not play in beta and had almost no opportunity to build up a nest egg through the trading of rare commodities before it was nerfed into the ground is so absurdly unfair that I am having a hard time drumming up any interest at all in playing and sort of wish I could get my money back.

The decision not to wipe the beta progress is questionable but understandable. The change to rare commodity trading is extremely questionable and difficult to understand at all. The combination of those 2 decisions together and the ramifications thereof is, quite frankly, inconceivable and hugely disappointing.

If you are a new starter, since release, then you have an advantage that if you get to Elite in any of the three styles (explorer, fighting, or trading) first, then you get £1,000, or if your the first to get all 3 then £10,000. Anyone who had the rares advantage cannot collect those prizes, unless they wipe and lose those advantages.
Besides as already stated this is not a race and even if they have 40 billion creds, how does that affect you? Ok they have a fully upgraded Python... there is quite allot of area to play and it is unlikely they will meet you, nm they would bother to attack you so who cares?
Pick your potatoe

I imagine the game will be continually adjusted and balanced. They are not going to keep wiping though.

I reset my save on release as I made a lot of credits with rare goods in the previous few days. Too many. It was cheating really, and ultimately not fun. You're better off without.

This is why you may want to look into pirating pirates.. ;) you get the booty plus the bounty.

Frankly OP... having a few million isn't all that.. once you start consistently doing things instead of focusing on your bank account.
Just enjoy the game, money will flow naturally towards you. I've spent 9 million on upgrades.. I would have accumulated more had I known they weren't going to wipe the Gamma.
I'm not kicking and screaming that others made hundreds of millions... more power to them. That makes the game varied and enjoyable. What fun would it be to have everyone at the same level, in the same kind of ship?

On another note:

What if, in three months, another new player comes and tells how it is unfair and there has to be a whipe?
Should we whipe weekly from now?

I've never bothered with rares either. I'm an alpha backer and I did actually wipe my saved game on release day as I believe it was only a fair thing to do. Please don't assume all us alpha/beta people like cheating, that's not so.

LOL.. "Hey we misspelled "Heugenought Station"! Uh OH .. **WIPE!!***

Call it a gold rush happens all the time. Someone comes up with something new, rare, or innovative a few early adopters profit then slowly it dries up and people move on to bigger and better things. If you ask me that's pretty realistic.

I won't lie to you, in Gamma I made SOME money doing that but the cost in fuel, repairs, and time invested to truck some tea buds and brandy back and forth could have easily been made up with smarter trading elsewhere and faster, in fact the bulk of my money (now mostly spent) came from stripping down my ships to no shields and trading some profitable items WITHIN one star system. In fact it was within two stations orbiting tidally locked planets which is basically like gonig from the kitchen to the livingroom with a plate full of cookies.

I use that same arguments about every nerf everyone cries for on this forum, and many others, but they never listen.

They don't realise that they are the ones ruining the game for everyone else - and the devs need to grow a spine and ignore it ALL.

I've been a backer since the premium beta and have never traded rares. In fact I haven't traded anything at all since the last wipe, I've been bounty hunting.
This game isn't a competition btw. If players are too powerful for you in some area, go somewhere else. There are 400 billion systems out there to go to.

Day-One PB here and I never traded in "rare" stuff....I mostly did bounty hunting. I'm at about 1.8M in total assets....mostly from Bounty Hunting and grabbing the cargo the pirate drops before he pops.

Please don't assume we all participated in the rare mechanic. FD has already said they would deal with those that exploited in-game....don't know what that means but Michael said they would.

^this

This game is not about some mad dash to the finish line - there is no finish line. Having millions of credits doesn't give anyone an advantage over someone else - it just means they get to do different things. Find a way to earn yourself some credits and have some fun.

To give you an idea - I wiped my save after 1.01 dropped, after playing sparsley through Gamma and having a few million net worth. With my fresh start, I sold my free Eagle, bought a few class D modules, KWS, and interdiction unit, and spent several hours last night bounty hunting in my Sidey with loaned pulse lasers. Had a ton of fun and earned a few credits to buy some more barely upgraded models. But it's not like the number matters to anyone but me.

Remember, this is about the journey, not the destination. Have fun and fly safe!
