While out hunting for brain trees in the Empyrean Straits guardian bubble a couple days ago, the stellar forge gods chanced to smile upon me and I stumbled across a (possible last?) novel variant of octahedral pods. I'm not surprised these managed to fly under the radar a bit long than their sibling variants, as these have the presence of Class V GG as a spawn requirement.
The only trait I could pull from them was the same as the other octahedral pods: releases spores when approached.
Same goes for research samples: pod core tissue, pod dead tissue, and pod surface tissue.
