If you add the ED launcher as a non steam game, you can upgrade your steam to the beta version (under settings) and stream your Rift experience. It will be broadcast as a stereo image, but your friends can still experience a bit of the majesty that is ED on the Rift.
Tonight I was showing them some dogfighting, docking, uss discovery, and even walking around my cockpit. I think I may have made a few new fans for ED and the Rift. Just wanted to pass along the idea if you're so inclined to try with your Steam friends!
