Ok so I haven't played for the past few weeks due to my grandma being very sick in the hospital. I landed at a station in Sorbego, and I don't remember having a bounty. When I logged in today I was blown up. I had a supposed bounty which, if I did have a bounty why wouldn't I have been blown up when landing prior to me taking a break? I'm getting a bit irritated as this isn't the first time I was mysteriously blown up. I don't get the bounty system and now I lost my ship for no apparent reason.
Blown up but no idea how or what happened.

its possible you had a fine that turned into a bounty when the 24 hour payment timer expired, its also possible you made it into dock without being scanned by the cops.
now whats to say (for arguments sake) that you got the fine when you were docking (maybe you sat too long over a pad or something and did not realise you had the fine and landed and saved and exited for your break...
While away fine turns into bounty, you come back today, launch, get scanned and bam....
Alternatively it could have been a 'dormant' bounty or fine (something you just overlooked) and so going out today you got scanned and the dormant fine / bounty was re-activated and BAM...

I'd believe that IF I didn't have a docking computer. No I didn't have any bounties, or fines. As I said, I pay all my fines because I know of the 24 hour notice. If I already had the bounty I would have known. Something is odd...
Yikes.. I thought that was about the only way to get yourself randomly killed. It happened to me and since then I never use those turrets and it hasn't happened since, so I figured that was the only bug. Apparently not. Sorry for your loss, and I hope you ticket it and they give you some cash back.
if you dock manually most likely you got loitering fine that you overlooked.

I have suffered from mysterious destruction usually costing 3.5 mil per time. A base that I am allied with and make regular trade runs has decided to murder me each time I exit it. I have no bounty, fines, nada.
