Blue highlight spoils the gorgeous animals

I'm just watching some of the new footage featuring the amazing tapirs, mandrills and the gharials. I think they look sooooo good!! But I find the blue highlight totally spoils them. I know we can look at the animals in camera mode, but as someone who is hugely looking forward to the management side of things, I know I am going to want to spend a lot of time looking at the stats of the animal, whilst also looking at the animal. And the blue highlight totally spoils them! I can't think of how it could be improved apart from removing it all together. Maybe the ground underneath the animal could have a highlight, or something over their head like the Sims. Just something that doesn't spoil the amazing animal graphics that are the centre point of the game! The blue highlight of the building pieces doesn't bother me, as it's only while building, and you aren't going to spend a lot of time looking at individual building pieces, as they don't have stats and also I'm not planning on falling in love with individual building pieces! I am so looking forward to falling totally in love with my animals, and to get to know them as the individuals they have been made to be. But the blue highlight makes me want to cry. 😥

I don't mind.

At least I can see where the animal is.

But a little bit less bright is not a bad idea though.

Why not limit the highlight to the (already existing) outline?

Yes, that would certainly be an improvement and probably the simplest to implement, but I still think it would be to the detriment of the gorgeous graphics. Something that didn't touch the animal would still be my preference.

Look at your animals when they are not highlighted blue.
If you selected an animal, it was because you want to look at the info panel, not the animal.
These are fair points, but I politely disagree. I think when managing a busy zoo with lots of animals, when popping around and checking on them all regularly, a LOT of time will be spent with the stats up to see how they are doing. So they will be blue a LOT. That certainly seemed the case in a lot of the streams at Gamescom. And I would just prefer to watch the animal pottering around at the same time as viewing their name, age and all the other info, without being blue. I thought that an easier way to achieve it, is if we could "pin" the stats to the screen if we want to, so that we can still see the stats in the other camera modes if we choose too. That way I can view the stats and watch the non-blue animals to my heart's content. It may already be possible to pin the different menus. I don't know.

I'm very into the management side of things, which is why this feels important to me. There seems like there is a lot of deep management systems in the game, which I want to take advantage of, whilst enjoying watching my animals at the same time. Anyway, that's just me. I love the creativity aspect but I like to be creative with a purpose and a challenge. Zoo Tycoon 2 was my favourite game and yet I don't think I played sandbox once!

On that note, I think the recently revealed franchise mode sounds sooooooooooo amazing! I thought I was most excited for the campaign (still am!) but the franchise mode with community challenges and being able to run a series of zoos sounds totally brilliant! It's such a cool and novel idea and I feel like the team are really delivering on this game and going above and beyond what I was expecting in terms of management, while at the same time making something visually stunning.

This has been my face all day thinking about franchise mode! 😁😁😁
