Blue "+" sign on right hand side of Comms panel, use ?

Not talking about the one on targeted ship hologram(which is Regeneration), I mean on Comms panel .
Though I am a vet and do wing up with one other, the blue "+" does nothing when in a wing and chosen.
What does it do ? Some sort of location or target copy to your own? Or you require more than 2 in a wing to enable it?

That blue + is your designation in the wing. Each wing member gets their own shape to better mark who they are, and that means when you joined the wing you got the +.
