Blueprints from steam always sunken in or floating, anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

Is anyone else having problems with blueprints you download from steam? for some reason I am having a problem with all blueprints I download, when I go to place them, they are either too high like as if floating or too low, as in partly underground. I am having this issue with all blueprints I downloaded. I have tried googling and doing some research but it almost seems like I am the only one having this issue, it appears someone else did make a thread on the "Coaster Heads" forums but I am not a coaster head member and cannot see the thread. That "Coaster Heads" thread is titled "Blueprints either floating or sunken in ground". Anyone please let me know if you are having the same issue and if you know what my problem could be please let me know. I have tried placing it and then doing a 'Smart Move' but when I drag the arrow up or down it snaps too high or too low and I do not have snapping set to on.

Hey you.

The best tip I can give is as soon as you open a blueprint, press X before placing it. That opens the Advanced Move tool. Then zoom in the camera a bit so you can really see what you're doing. You can then really precisely place the blueprint easy-peasy within cm of where you want it. And voila, no more floating blueprints [happy]

I think everyone has this issue, but it's an issue that can't really be solved. The reason why things aren't lined with the terrain perfectly is because people that made the blueprints in question sunk stuff into the ground, so when you go and select the blueprint it will take the lowest point of the structure and align it to the surface of the ground, thus making the whole structure float. All you can really do is what Nemmie suggested, click "X" and then adjust it to make it flush against the surface. Alternatively hold "Shift" and you can then drag it up and down by moving your mouse.

Thanks for the replies guys, unfortunately 'X' or 'Shift" do me no good because when I attempt to use the advanced placing tool or shift, everything snaps to a certain height or depth, when I try to select and move a single item by itself there is no snapping and everything moves smoothly and I can adjust the height perfectly, however, when I attempt to move the whole building, it starts snapping and I can only make it float or sink it. I have tried the 'X' and 'Shift' methods before with no luck, it appears the real problem here is that it keeps snapping everything to a certain height. The reason this is such a big issue for me is because some buildings that have wooden floors for example, when I try to path them, the sidewalk will not align perfectly with the floor and the peeps are walking through the wood that comes up to their waist and if I go the high route, you can see the paths which is not how the buildings are meant to look and moving every building piece by piece is a pain in the back cheeks.

There shouldn't be any snapping unless you're editing the building itself.

When you first click a blueprint (or select it by clicking once then pressing M), you can move it freely.

You must be using edit mode (ie press R) to be seeing the snapping to height etc.

I've seen some builders add a flat roof tile that you can easily see to sink the blueprint upto.

Wish you could upload terrain and paths too (optional).

I've been having this problem too, but I thought I was missing a command or something. And it's with any building I create, so not just downloaded blueprints. The only work around I've come up with is to enter editing mode for the building and adjust the individual pieces, one at a time... a little tedious. Pulling up the terrain or surrounding the building with rocks is an easier solutions for more complicated buildings.

Just in case anyone is still following this, I found a work around for this problem... All you have to do is open up Settings and make sure Global Vertical Snapping is turned off while you are placing your blueprints, Once you are done placing and adjusting it, I recommend turning this back on when you are done with your stubborn blueprint... Again, this is not a fix but rather a work around. If your blueprint has items that go underground, they will continue to do so but at least this is something. Hope I was able to help anyone.

Here is what the setting looks like in the settings menu.

As you can see below, all of the pieces in this bp are now sitting flush against the ground.

It would be cool, if we could set a pivot point in the blueprint.

yes a floor point where you click then that's the floor for the blueprint

Also:

PLEASE LET US PLACE COASTER BLUEPRINTS UNDERGROUND

I dunno why this still hasn't been implemented. We can make a coaster with auto-tunneling but if we place a blueprint coaster it has to be above ground. That makes the entire auto-tunneling useless

Yes, it would be nice if it had some kind of guideline to go after. I know the ground is not always flat but at least there should be a reference point where the game should at least attempt to level to.

Would also help for sunken in rides/coasters/paths.. (yes I still hope for path, ride addition)

But we should also be free to be able to sink coasters however we want. 100% submerged? do it!

Not that anyone has used any of my blueprints. But I put in the description if it's going to float and to make sure the person lowers it to ground level.

It happens if you partially sink an Item to achieve a specific look.
