Bring back the Boa:

The largest of the freighters produced in Indepedent shipyards, the Boa Cruiser is the Anaconda's big brother. It is is large enough to buy a starports stock out in several items and make a fortune in. A rich man's vessel, it comes with a rich man's price tag. In comparison to some of the new freighters, the Boa is an antique, but it is a timeless antique, still flying the space roads after other ships have come and gone.

With the advent of the Krait an old favourite with older generation of players, lets start seeing these old classics back even if Mk II versions why not...

Having a big brother to the conny would be a welcome addition to Elite galaxy esp: for traders and passenger missions.

I think I'll leave here again what I already written in the suggestion forums a bit time ago:

I'd really apreciate a ship like the FFE Boa as it was basically a larger 'Conda, but with better acceleration and less topspeed. For me, the 'Conda is outplaced by it's fractional compeditors (T10,'Vette,iCutter), and out priced by it's smaller cousin(Python), and after the buff, even as the independent trader encripelt by the T9.
That's ok and reasonable, because the 'Conda once was massively overpowerd, but why not adding an additional, even larger class of ships in the independant shipyards, with a larger, more reasonable 'Conda.
Like the ominous Panther LX and the FFE Boa.

The Fractional ships (except the T10) could easily hold it's role, especially the Cutter, in comparison to a bit larger compeditors, as it would still be the shield king and as it still would be the fastest fatty in the universe.
And the 'Vette is really agile for such large ships and has it's dual Huge HPs. Maybe it would need it's two additional uts, but not sure tho.

A Boa could IMO just be a larger 'Conda, with the same 'Conda base internals, just everything bigger. 9PP-8Th-7FSD-6LS-9PD-8Sen-6Ft (a C9 PP shouldn't be the problem, as in ED launch version, the 'Conda was the only ship which was capable of a C8PP/PD. Also the Python was the only ship capable of the C7PP/PD). Optional internal wise (with a bit alteration) we get out of this principle: 8-7-7-7-6-6-6-5m-5m-4-4-4-3 a payload of 888ts. Then the Same/ut weapon layout as the 'Conda except the smalls below the ship, which could get replaced by two mediums ontop of the rear part. 1000ts base hull should give the Boa, with a 7A FSD, a unladen jumprange of ~ 17,2Lys, laden of 11,9lys. Also the Boa should be super slow (like a T9) but with a acceleration comparable to the gunship, to stay as close to the original as possible.
To Balance this is easy. The Boa should be (as in the original FFE) a rich mans vessel. This thing has a C9PP which would cost (if we follow the "16-50-160" logic) about a half billion cr!. Surely this beast would supersede the Independent large ships (primary T9/10), but if a Boa costs about 250, maybe 300mil as base, that would be a price for which you can get a A-ratet T9. Problem solved (as seen in the T7/Python comparison). And the others have something which makes them special enough. 'Conda it's tremendous jumprange, the 'Vette it's manouvrability and it's dual Huge HPs and the iCutter has it's Speed and it's shields.

To be honest, I'm just daydreaming a bit, but to get a ship like this in ED would be cool.

Gosh, that gave me a flashback to my youth, I had forgotten all about the Boa, that was in the 1984 original! Yes, a Boa would be an awesome addition.

Totally agree Devs are heading in the right direction if the Krait is anything to go by, All they have to do really is create the Boa Mk 2 version just like the krait bigger badder than the conny, it would be warmly welcomed by us well lets say older generation cmdrs :)

No that was the Lynx Bulk Carrier and the Long Range Cruiser

The Boa was still smaller than the Panther.


In the EDRPG the Boa.MK II however is too large for star ports and has a Small Craft bay that can fit up to a Cobra for ferrying goods and passengers to and fro
