Boarding Party (or just how big the Anaconda is)

Uh Oh... Prepare to repel Boarders!!!

yeah, I landed my Sidewinder on the nose of the Anaconda. The size of that ship is pretty amazing when put in perspective like this.

this shot here is from inside my sidewinder, apart form the 13 mill purple ball of death thrower, the section just behind it almost looks like a hangar bay, or having the potential for it. I remember a while back reading about that it could have an hangar module. be kinda cool if that gets implemented down the road :)

LOL +rep I hadn't even noticed, now all I can see is sidewinders filing out of the conda and getting one shot immediately

The carrier in the Wing commander V expansion was built quite similar, and once I actually got shot by that triple cannon immediately after having launched. Very heavy fighter, still shiled down and rear hull down to the point of the ship screaming "eject, eject !" at me. Still finished the mission after the shields came back up.

And rep for the OP for the idea of *landing* on a Conda.

I've already let FD know that I will be needing at least two Sidewinders docked in my Anaconda (one for each of my kids).

:cool:

Why is the hangar door directly in front of the giant boomstick?

This comes to mind......

Thats the lady's way of getting rid of wanna be-dockers who don't understand that "no" means "no".

You, Sir, own me a new keyboard :p reading this reply has rather rapidly expelled the tea I was just sipping on all over my current one ;)

a Frigate (Anaconda) is always lighter than a Corvette

Not to derail further, but;

Frigates were faster than Corvettes generally, but not lighter. Quite the opposite in fact.

"Frigate" was usually the term used to describe any rated vessel larger than a Corvette that wasn't a ship of the line (less than 50 guns).

So from the smallest first, warships would have been;

Schooner
Cutter
Brig
Gun Brig
Corvette
Frigate
Great Frigate

When in battle, anything smaller than a Corvette was considered too weak to be positioned in the battle lines and so were not rated. The rated ships would have been;

6th Rate
Corvette
Post Ship (technically still a Frigate, these had less than 28 guns)

5th Rate
Frigate

4th/3rd/2nd/1st
Ship of the Line

By WW2 the above was largely scrapped, to look something like this;

Patrol Ship
Corvette
Frigate
Destroyer
Cruiser
Aircraft Carrier (super cruiser)
