Boat ride through habitats

Hi there,

I have been looking all over youtube but have not found anything that solves my problem. I want to build a boat ride connecting two habitats. I have not been able to place gates on my boat ride and all videos I have seen end up with the gates not opening or closing.
The only possibility I have found so far was building step shores that do not allow the animals to get out, however if animals get into the water they will swim out their habitat.
For the other rides it works fine, however not for the boat.

Has anybody been able to trick the engine?

You could use a low glass-barrier ( In most cases 1/4 m above the water should be high enough to avoid escapes ). Cover it left and right from the track with plants and maybe liana vines across the top.
This way, the barrier is not to obvious, it still works, and the boat appears to crawl trough the plants.

Phew, tried that and yes it works but since I am not really a pro-designer (yet ) I skipped it. Too much planning needed to get it running. My guest will have to walk.
