Boat ride.

I can't really figure out how the boat ride works. I want to make a boat ride, that goes around an island, where the habitat is in, or goes through. But I can't get it it work with the ridegates and accessibility for keepers.
Can someone help or has someone made a video with a boat ride built?

I'm also curious how you make this work. I made a boat ride that went around (and very close to) a lemur island with two different lemur habitats on it but not actually into the habitats. I kept it open for years but eventually closed it as it was getting maybe 1-3 guests a year (even though the price was $2 and there were 6 boats) and haemorrhaging money. It was disappointing because I spent ages planning it and building the station building and river for it.

I haven't tried again but I would guess either 1) it needs to go through a habitat for guests to think it's any good or 2) it needs to have several stations because they just want to ride it as transport and are not attracted by viewing cool animals from the water.

In terms of keeper accessibility, I just put a footbridge over the water and had a small entrance building on the island which included the keeper hut and also a guest gate to allow them to tour the habitats.

I just started a boat tour this past weekend. I built a habitat around my station but across the river from where my guests enter/exit. Then I've been building new habitats along the route. This seemed easier then trying to put in a boat path after everything else was built. The drawback to having the habitat in with the station is that guests are going down the exit path to see the habitat and making the exit for the ride congested.

So right now 80% of the boat ride has no scenery whatsoever which is why i pushed the boat speed up to its highest. I am not getting enough traffic yet to break even but I do have a consistent queue of 20 guests waiting for a boat and I'm charging $15 a ride. it took a bit of operating time before anyone showed up. I regularly check guests coming off the ride and they are enjoying it.

I have a staff bridge to cross the river with a staff building village behind the habitats I'm setting up along the river route. So far it seems to be working.

I had a thought about a 2nd station at the other side of the island where guests can exit the boat and access habitats on the island. If the boat is the only way back off the island (i.e. if i don't build a guest bridge) will they complain about being "stuck"? Maybe...but I'll put an ATM at the boat dock so they can pull out more money to pay for the ride home! They should have planned ahead. :D
