I'm kinda surprised that this staple of modern sci-fi isn't in the game already to be honest.
Everyone has wanted to nuke something in space, but explosions are known for being significantly less than effective in space due to the whole "vacuum of space" thing that's going on in the cosmos. The solution is to take that nuke and slap a laser on it and using the energy from the nuclear reaction to power a one use extremely high energy laser. Since this is space the bomb-pumped laser would need to be mounted on a rocket to get it close to/point it at its target. That might not be necessary though since engagement ranges in E
are almost exclusive close range (in terms of space).
Methinks that it would be pretty neat if This were put in the game as a large mount or bigger weapon with only a few shots. Since it's effectively and anti-capital weapon it would need to be obscenely expensive and probably require a licence or navy rank, or make it an event exclusive item for heavy fighter/bomber craft. You could also tie it into your crafting system by making it so you have to find the fissile material yourself on a planet with different materials having different damage outputs. You could also tie it into the multi-crew ship by making it so that it has to be manually guided by a crew member.
