Bookmark limit?

Greetings,

I am currently on my way back from Sag A to Colonia and after completing my 1st 1000 Ly jump sequence I was in the middle of plotting the next when I noticed the bookmark location option was not available. Is there a limit to the number of bookmarks you can have? I didn't think I had that many but if I need to delete some then I guess I can write them on a bit of paper...

I have 3 weeks and a few days to complete my trip back to Colonia and drop off my passengers do I need to complete this trip before the update lands? Or put another way will the update affect the mission in any way once it's installed?

The bookmark limit is about 130-ish. It's the same amount as the number of rare commodities in the game, because I bookmarked all the rare commodity stations and wasn't allowed to bookmark anything else.

To answer your other question, no the update SHOULD NOT affect your mission. However, lol, I assume it is worth a lot of credits, I would try and hustle back before the update just to make sure :)

Edit: I also would like additional bookmark's as well as some organizational tools to accompany them. But 130 bookmarks beats 130 sidewinders lol.

Greetings,

Yep I also hope they improve the bookmarks... 130 (I had 126) is just not enough due to there being lots and lots of interesting places out there.

The alternative is to buy an A6 note pad, but that's olde school is it not?

And YES the mission itself is worth 17mil plus all the exploration data there and back... but if I can manage to get within few 1000 Ly's in 7 to 8 days then I'll just jump and honk the last bit to make sure I arrive before the update does... just in case.

Greetings,

Yeah it sounds a lot but when you start bookmarking planets/system where you can get stuff then you quickly fill up the available space... and that's assuming you're hanging around the bubble... I've found loads of interesting places around Colonia that I've had to make olde fashioned notes about because I cannot bookmark the locations, having reached the limit already.

Not a criticism as they're there for any kind of reason, but other than perhaps marking all rares, why would someone need 130 markers, let alone more than that?

I've ended up with a rough 'here's where I've been' trail across the galaxy, but the only ones I really care about are ELW's I've found (not all, unfortunately, as bookmarks obviously came out quite late in Elite's lifespan), particularly impressive systems I'd like to revisit, certain places I've not visited yet, and then ones to denote certain station locations depending on where I am and what I'm doing (Dervish Platform FTW in Colonia, and the Hudson Observatory in the Pleiades, for example).

Yeah, I dunno. I put in a suggestion awhile ago to raise the limit, allow us to color code the symbols, and make folders to organize them better. Maybe one day they'll take that on board.

This should be made an in game thing, asap. Personally use the bookmarks a lot. Seems a bit of a bolt in rush job, that never got properly finished.

Rep +1.

The Xbox screen capture button gives you infinite bookmarks.

That's a good idea. Can you sort/ organize the screen captures? I've never tried to. It would work short-term when I am trying to map out a route for exploring for example. But if there isn't a way to organize the screen shots I wouldn't want to have to scroll through a bunch of pictures over month's of time.

Hope 3.0 will introduce some more bookmarks, and folders :)

No, there's currently no real way to organise caps, be it on the console or the OneDrive.

I sometimes use screenshots for quick and very accurate reminders of commodities, too, and those you can obviously very easily find again in the same session, then delete when no longer necessary. Using captures as a record of systems of interest would require manual sorting and naming from OneDrive. If you kept it up to date (which shouldn't be that hard), then I suppose it'd make for an easy to reference resource. It'd have the added benefit of probably being more secure than in-game bookmarks (in that I'd trust my own data storage over servers I can't access).

When I am roaming around systems and I come across one no one else has I tend to bookmark it, after scanning it, so I can then quickly determine once the data is handed in if I got it first or not. Because you never know who's out there do you...

While in Colonia I have also bookmarked some platforms/stations that sell modules I may require... the choice up here is rather limited I was after a 5A FSD for the other Explorer I bought only to find the closest station that sells one is 22000 Ly away. The same applies while roaming around the bubble, until you get Elite you have to remember what station sells what modules and it's quicker to just bookmark them. The same applies when looking for resources I have planets bookmarked where I can get minerals etc from especially ones that have a really good chance of getting something bordering on rare like Arsenic. The down side to all this bookmarking is you use them up rather quickly.

But after this trip is over I hope to get Elite in exploration currently on Ranger 99%

I have to agree a way of organising them would be a real bonus, along with an increase in amount allowed.

Something else I think is missing is somewhere to store a small amount of stuff, so you don't have to carry it around with you all the time.

I've got a half- route of neutrons between Sag A* and Beagle that some people may find useful.

Unfortunately, I'm at the point where I'm full, and may have to clear them.

Also, I'm too lazy to write them down.

Unsure if you are aware of this? There are a few third party android apps that can relive some of this rigmarole. Some sites too, if you play with a PC nearby. Though some may consider it a form of cheating.

There have been occasions, for example a passenger demanding a commodity, or needing to find a specific module for an upgrade, where you could simply reach for your mobile. Tap in a few current location info stats, the app will then tell you how far away they are and where. It's not always 100% but gives you a good idea, instead of manually searching around.

I'm not sure if I should plug them by their app name, if it is against forum rules or not? But a simple search in the app store for "Elite Dangerous" should bring them up. Some charge a small one off fee to remove ads, which is fair enough, IMHO. It could also spare you a few bookmarks for other locations.

I'm not an apple fan, but I guess there are apps in the apple app store too.

Greetings,

If you're on about a database [yesnod] then yep use it often when doing passenger trips, those troublesome passengers always want something... But even using that I still find the current limit... frustrating, especially now that I have reached said limit! I have to make decisions now.. about which bookmarks to keep and which to write down the olde fashioned way.
