Boost not working

Hunting pirates in my Vette, when ever I hit boost, I get "Boost failed: Insufficient energy in capacitor". I have 4 pips to Eng

What is wrong?

Your PD isn't sufficiently rated to supply enough energy for the boost.

Have you engineered it, downgraded it or upgraded/engineered your thrusters?

To be fair to OP, I don't think the game explains this anywhere, energy required per boost is a hidden statistic and there is no warning in outfitting that a given distributor won't allow a ship to boost. Am I wrong?

Without engineering, as a minimum you would need a 5A or a 6C distributor to be able to boost once in a while (every 10 seconds, according to Coriolis. An 8A PD would reduce that to 5 seconds).

You have answered your own question, you have a Micro PD (and size really does matter)

:)

That was pretty on point and funny!

@ OP, Get an 8A, especially if you're not going to engineer.

I should point out that you'll eventually spend more time just in extra jumps by NOT engineering, and you'll have a worse ship overall.
Engineering the PD, FSD and Thrusters alone will make a huge difference.

Not to sound rude or anything, but how people get to ships like Corvette and still make rookie mistakes in outfitting Oo

How is it you have a vett but no idea what is wrong with this picture?

Half the vette pilots I've seen couldn't even complete the tutorials.

Inevitable side effect of everything that used to be advancement becoming free and easy.

You get a warning that tells what's wrong the moment you try to boost.

No, but you'd think by the time you get to a Corvette you would have caught on to this feature :)
