Boost to nvidia FPS

Every now and then I'd log into Star Citizen to see what's up and every time I do I get a slide show. Found this video and done what was said in it and it really does make a difference. It literally takes the bloat out of the drivers and only installs what's needed to run the GPU and anything else nvidia runs on your PC without installing other parts of the software that slow your PC down and use your internet connection.

You don't actually need 3rd party tools to prevent the installation of GeForce Experience. I used Nvidia's original installer but deselected anything but the driver. I have none of those telemetry processes running.
some people have slower internet and this will only download the needed files.

Same. Just do 'Custom Install', and only select what you want. 'Perform Clean Installation' wipes the old stuff, so any settings in the Nvidia Control Panel will be lost, so best take notes first.

I am always sceptical of any video that tells you you're doing something wrong! And he doesn't even do a before and after benchmark, so I wonder how much difference this really makes in terms of FPS. Besides, I like GeForce Experience for the recording and screenshot utilities. However, the game settings optimisation is total guff!

Some people always perform a clean install of their drivers by using DDU first to completely remove the old drivers from your system first, but personally, I only do that if I'm having specific issues.

I do use NVCleanstall to install only the driver components I want (and I usually want to strip out a lot more than just GFE) and disable telemetry, which are minor chores to do manually.

That said, if you're seeing appreciable issues from the standard install method, something else was wrong.

The benchmark difference is zero, or at least well below the typical run to run variance. Having none of the optional components running in the background can make a difference for a completely stripped benching install, but people who have a shot at setting any records know what they're doing already.

This stuff is is mostly about preventative maintence. Start with a clean machine, don't install extra fluff, and you have a much easier time figuring what went wrong where, if something does go wrong.

Fair enough but the OP seems to be claiming that this will boost FPS.

That does seem to be part of what the OP was implying. It seems likely they were mistakenly attributing some accidental GFE optimization, or some leftover settings from a past install, for driver bloat or the effect of some NVIDIA service.

I wouldn't let such a misattribution taint the perception of the software mentioned though. Both DDU and NVCleanstall have real utility, even if some people recommending them have confused correlation with causation.
