Bootcamp

Im not at all a techy so I thought it would be best to come here and ask this...

I have a Macbook Pro (Early 2015) and I understand this game is Windows only at the moment, what I was wondering (as me and my girlfriend are obsessing over this game) is would I be able to use Bootcamp to run Planet Coaster on my Mac?

My system specs are:

2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
8GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

I have installed windows with bootcamp just for this game and it works perfectly! But not sure if your specs are good enought.
I have a i7, 32gb ram and a 4gb graphic card on my mac.

Unfortunately, no. You're way below the minimum specs on the graphics card.

According to benchmarks at PassMark Software (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php) here are the performance numbers (higher is better.)...

Planet Coaster Alpha published minimum specs for video card...
Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 - 3111
AMD Radeon HD 7850 - 3764

Your Computer...
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 - 958

Plus your graphics card doesn't have the minimum 2GB of video memory.

Sorry. If I was you I would rush out and get a new computer for this game. It's that good. It runs great on my machine that has a little higher than the minimum specs, but I'm looking forward to getting an even better machine so the game runs insanely good. This is the first time I'm willing to spend money on a new computer just for one game - it's that much fun!

i have the geforce gtx 960m which is 1712 on that list and was told by someone on here i should be good to go. over 3000 sounds a little high, only people with the top top gaming pcs will be able to play it

Hey there,

Also not super techy but wanted to know if it's even worth buying and installing windows for it.

Here are my specs!

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)
Processor 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB

Thanks all!

My PC

Processor overclocked at 4.2 GHz
Memory 2x16 3200 ddr4
SSD 1tb
Graphics Asus GTX 670 4gb <- this is whats killing me though really focus on your graphic card with this game!

I have a gaming laptop with the same graphics card as that and a slightly slower processor which seems to run better than I expected. One thing to consider though is that on one hand there is a lot more content to come yet which might impact performance. But on the other hand there is probably quite a bit of optimisation to be done and debug code to remove also.

So I should be ok to run it?

I have the same iMac, except with 16GB of RAM instead of 32. It runs fine on Windows 7 in bootcamp. Resolution on 1080p and graphic settings on high.

Hello! Don't listen to these idiots that clearly have no idea what they're talking about. [oops] the "minimum requirements", you and me are team 2015 MacBook Pro - I got bootcamp running, my MacBook doesn't reach "minimum requirements" and it runs beautifully smooth no lag at all on medium settings. I say go ahead and download it!

Which version of Windows are you guys using in bootcamp? I tried to install Windows 10 but the partitioning fails every time I cannot get bootcamp to work :( also did you all buy windows to use it in bootcamp?

I also decided to use bootcamp and give PC a try! My iMac is under the min specs yet Planet Coaster runs smooth even on high settings! :)

Yes, my wife has the exact same MacBook and it runs great.

There is a glitch for some reason Windows 10 does not work on newer macbook models. Try using Windows 8 or 7 instead, you should be able to get the free upgrade from there.

I would love to have this game on my mac as well, and I know how to bootcamp but I don't know how to get windows. Can somebody help me?

Well, I don't know about the "idiots" part lol, [rolleyes] but he is right that the bootcamp install of Winodws will work sufficiently. At least until your park starts to get dense and you may see framerate drops. Here are my specs:

However, since these are retina displays that is over 2000k resolution, you will need to dial down the resolution in WIndows to around 1980x1080 to have somewhat decent screen real estate and performance. So far I built a flat ride and a small coaster. People started walking in and it didn't hiccup at that point either. I dialed down the game graphics settings to minimum (if that does anything), but the game runs well for what it is.

Hope you enjoy!

How have you managed that? I am running the same specs with windows 10 and it is horrible. It's almost impossible to play the game. I have reduced windows display settings to 1920 x 1200 and same with Planet Coaster itself.

will my mac work

processor : .2.3 GHz Intel Core i5

Your specs are on the very low side. It could work, but the experience will not be ideal unfortunately.
