Bored, frustrated.

I'm just venting really.

I bought into PB and loved it from then onwards, trading was good, combat was fun but know in gamma it all seems a bit confusing and big! I've been flying around, haven't got a clue on "exploring" even had it explained to me a few times. How do I know when I've "explored" it enough to get paid for it. I'm in some random system, there all the same really but the names change with lots of dead ends and trading used to be fun but know I think its just over complicated. If we as a race of humans have mange to produce a space ship surely we can get some to be able to help us with trading. I don't mean tell us how to trade but "simplify" things.

I think I'm going to have a break and check out the other space game in production.......although it pains me.......ill feel dirty but really frustrated with this game I've waited 30 years to play...

I hear similar complaints about mining. "I tried mining but hardly get any money". Turns out that knowing where and what to mine is an art unto itself, and rightfully so. Otherwise it would simply be a completely mechanical procedure. But you have to go out there and find rich deposits, and then pick the elements that are most valuable.

Similar with exploration. Staying within 100ly of your starting point means you won't get big bucks from exploring. However, venture out and you'll find that a single scan can net you 8000 credits. I'm not even talking visiting each and every body for a detailed scan, I mean just the coarse initial scan.

As for trading, yeah I would like to see more helpful trading tools implemented down the road. Trading is working, but it's more difficult than it needs to be right now. But frankly, that's something they can easily work on at any point in time. The game isn't broken in that respect. Could be better, yes, not too happy about the early release date for that reason, but there you go.

However, I see those as relatively minor shortcomings. The game is giving me too many awesome moments.

Every object in space you explore you get paid for. In all fairness i think things have been simplified enough by now, to do it more would be dumbing down the game for me. I think you should think about what you want to do and achieve in the game. I was spawned 160 ly away from sol and my goal was to find a nice high tech federation system near sol with some resource extraction sites and a nav point. After that i want to rank up to an ensign for the federation and spend my time bounty hunting untill i can buy a bigger ship. I have traded alot but i came to the conclusion that its just not for me, i care about fun and not credits.

Offcourse having a break is always good, make sure you dont burn out and especially not since we have another wipe coming. Good luck!

For exploration check the System View of the place you are going to. If there's nothing there it's unexplored or at least you don't have the data on it. Then you go in and us the Discovery Scanner to find planets (depending on the D Scanner this can be a bit hit or miss), then fly close to the unexplored things to scan them.

Then fly somewhere else and sell the results. Even if you just scan the sun you can sell the details, you just get more if you've scanned it better.

Trading is a bit of a pain, the new Imports and Exports data is a good start but it's a bit broken at the moment. If you find a good trade route though you can make serious credits.

you might have overwanted elite back! Compared to the older ones, there's not much more, or just a little... I remember in my very low age year as a kid, Elite was just WOOOOOW.... now we've had sooo many NICE games and all kind and sort of, it's for sure that we want more, more, and.... more.

So Elite, for me, is GREAT... now as an occasional gamer, not-scifi-fan, I would understand that Elite is crap... but that counts for EVERY other game out there.

Eve online was WOOOOOOW a time too, for me... now it's, well..; burned out... finished..... next. And I'm sure I'll arrive to that point too with Elite, just, not now it's not even finished!

:D

This a hundred times! It's beta testing burnout. @OP take a brake and come back after 16 Dec. I also think that FD has some secrets planed for the release for the beta burned players so that their inner flame goes bright again ^^
