Bored? Try Flight Assist Off.

My progresion so far in ED has been Freagle - Adder - Eagle (horrible cockpit in the Adder) - Cobra - Asp. Getting to the Asp required trading which, after the initial "wow, that´s a lot of money in a short time", got quite tedious. To spice things up I got myself a Viper decked out for bounty hunting, but for some reason that didn´t really catch on either. Something about the combat being mostly tail chasing like any other flight sim I have played.

I had seen the videos Isinona has put up on youtube about flying with flight assist off. I don´t have a dedicated throttle and had previously tried using the keyboard as one, which didn´t work very well. However, the throttle on my TM16000M together with the base buttons on the left side could be setup to mimick a dedicated throttle.

In short; wholly sh... that was fun! Twisting, sliding, boosting, reversing, aiming - after a while it got more natural and the satisfaction of getting a kill was immense. Yes, it was frustrating in the beginning but the result was worth the 1-2 hours spent flying around in an asteroid field trying to learn how to keep the ship under control.

In short, if you are getting bored try FA-off. You´ll not regret it.

Agree 100% I have a voice attack command to switch it on briefly to stabilize the ship, but most of the time it is off. The cool thing about the bigger ships is they handle very well with FA OFF due to sluggish behavior. Type-9 is a joy to fly with FA disabled.
