Borked Mission - Alliance DESTROYED!

Yes, the OP did the anti-fed mission branch, but only because they were not able to complete or abandon the original pro-fed mission at all since the original branch was no longer available due to the bug in mission branching.

This. Why are there so many people on this here forum illiterate?

Yeah - to add my own experience with this;

Bought the game and started playing 4 days ago. The first thing I did was take the "liberate 2 slaves" mission from where I started (LHS 3447) and as a new player, I had no idea how to do it.

A few days of learning, mining credits etc. and I finally had managed to get one of the missions from federation that earns you a rank. On that exact trip to get combat stabilizers for the federation and upon heading back I bumped into slaves being sold by accident. I had one "liberate 2 slaves" mission from where I was mining aswell, so I bought 4 to complete both slavemissions.
"Perfect", I thought - as I could just go back to Frey through LHS 3447 and get that mission done. I hadn't even noticed there was another completion option for it in the description and decided I will not go after the credits and do the "right thing" and get even further good rep - as I've been wanting to play as a good guy - at least for the time being :)

Get to LHS 3447 and the mission just isn't there. Nothing at the bulleting board about it, where I should return it - yet the description clearly lists that station as the return point and ERAVATE as the optional delivery point for the enemy of the federation.
I did visit Eravate just to see if I could return them there - and I COULD but the reward listing in the bulletin board menu was 530 credits. Not the 53000 credits that the description says...

And like I said, I didn't feel like being the bad guy, so I ignored it.

A bit later I went for another spin at LHS 3447 to check if I could return them there after I had got a few newer missions out of the way, but nope - couldn't be done.

And when I abandoned the mission, I now got the same exact text as you can see in the screenshot of the original post;

""GETTING GOOD WITH THE LAW
I can't believe this is the life you've chosen for yourself, Commander. Don't you want to be something more than just another common thief? People are already starting to talk about you, and not in a good way. Petty thug, pathetic crook... is that really what you want people to know you for?
There is another option. The cops over on $##abaDestinationStationName;

STARPORT CLEVE HUB
SYSTEM ERAVATE""

And whatever reputation I had worked for, is now gone - apparently unless I do the mission... a mission, that I have no idea what it's about :S

Edit: And I emphasize; I did NOT return the slaves to the opposition - I abandoned the whole task and got that text in there, as if I HAD turned them in to the enemy of the federation.

Edit2: I did NOT accept any "branches" or take on any other option for said mission from any other bulleting board. The "Liberate 2 slaves" contract got updated with the whole "I have spies in LHS 3447 that tell me blah blah, deliver their resources to me and I'll pay so we'll laugh at them, blablabla"

So... I really fail to understand why so many people here are trying to spin this off as OP's fault or mistake, when it's VERY clear that the whole mission scenario is bugged - in more ways than one. And "You should avoid missions like this" isn't a reason to tolerate bugs. I took the mission to do good, for no reward but reputation. It's not in any way my fault as I got "into illegal behavior" or did a "shady mission", when infact I didn't. It was all for a good cause and described as such.

Oh crap.

I wish I'd read this thread before taking the 4 missions to free slaves for various Federation factions.

I'd been checking USS's all day to find the General in the "Assassinate the rogue General" faction rank mission, and of course, I kept encountering NPC's who offered me alternate locations to drop off the freed slaves.

So now I have 4 "multiple delivery options" missions. What can I do? I'm currently Allied with the Federation and I worked hard to get there, via trading for weeks on end. If I abandon the missions I'm afraid I'll lose the rep, but if what this thread says is true, I now can't even complete the missions properly either. :(

Any advice? Maybe just let them expire, or is that the same as abandoning them?

I don't want to hear about 'WINGS', a Mac port or paid content. I want the bugs fixed in the product I ALREADY PAID FOR!!!
heh well put, i've said the same thing myself both in posts and support tickets. take heart from the fact that you will be ignored in the nicest possible way. because half the players want the Python nerfed, and it's more important to satisfy that arguably useless issue (because half DON'T want it nerfed) than to rectify something that is completely broken and ruins your game. like being marked as Wanted for shooting at Wanted enemies.

personally i thought these broken things warranted being hot-fixed ASAP, but apparently i am mistaken and they don't matter much at all. silly me.

From what I've read on other threads, Feds don't like slaves. I also tried the grueling rep grind through mission completion but sat at Unfriendly/Neutral for what seemed forever. And then I just started going to Nav Points and RES'es and killing the endless amounts of pirates that pop up there, turning in the massive accumulation of bounties. Suddenly the Empire/Federation likes me! I'm an Ally now?!

Point being, if you just want faction rep, go bounty hunting.

As rule of thumb, I don't do missions requiring USS checking unless it's a simple assasination, even then I checked the target faction so I don't get burned by surprise rep hit. Why did you check USS while doing slave mission anyway. Any fetch/deliver mission, I go straight to destination, no checking around USS for altenatives, because they mess you up.

This

Even without the double agent possibility, stopping on the way is braindead when you are carrying highly illegal cargo. It can be tricky enough smuggling the slaves into the destination port without increasing your risk by stopping on the way.

Also: people delude themselves when they think they are doing a good deed when taking these deliver slaves so they can be freed. All they are doing is supporting the slaves trade by dealing with the slave traders thus increasing demand. It would be a different matter if the mission was to find a slave trader, use a limpet on him to get the slaves. That would be a mission worthy of the risk (and rep)

I've had it happen twice now aswell (Took another one, as it's the most common mission type to get "reputation rewards" for the system I'm mostly at and forgot about it, went pirate hunting aaand bugged again. At least the bug is VERY easy to replicate)

Both times I've managed to get rid of it by just abandoning the missions - which then results in the judgmental "Getting good with the law" post that ends in the bugged station name - but then I've just gone to the system and the station that it lists as the location under the message and found a "Pirate you don't want to be" mission conclusion at the bulletin board.

Not sure if it has reduced my reputation... I'm Neutral -> Recruit and I think I've never been above that either - but as I didn't realize to check the current standing (progress bar thing), I'm not sure....

But I think that's your best bet of getting rid of the quests crowding up your contracts.

which is why i'm amazed it wasn't hotfixed. it's not like it barely affected anyone, or had no bad side effects

Yeah - so am I :p

Let's hope people have made enough noise for it to be fixed in the next update.
Annoying having to not only keep track on your missions, but to also make sure you don't bump into scenarios that bug your missions out :/

Even the event in Banki was a trainwreck, fighting for Feds led to reputation plummeting. When are they going to fix this?!
