boting in this game?

There are hacks around that allow for unattended 'botting' as in placing your invincible and weapon-hacked ship equipped with turrets in a conflict zone and just leave it there. The hacked upgraded weapons will blew everything that's red out of the sky, gathering bond vouchers. When you come back after a few hours you can dock and cash in.

This is usually done in solo though, as a) these cheaters don't want to be seen and b) there are more enemies to shoot as no other players are killing off the targets.

Nevertheless, this will allow them to easily make money, and upgrade their ships to annoy others in open later on.

i see quite a few player ships dock perfectly, never respond when i send a message, head in the direction of the station instantly after warp (with orienting itself, it seems atleast) and seem to get in and out of stations faster.

or are people that good and really efficient at these things?

Meh, I don't know if there are bots or not, but space trucking the same route for hours will do exactly what you describe. With occasionnal "oops, forgot to require docking rights" moments.

Every time I read about bots I wonder why people buy games and use software for not having to play them.
Probably only to get the most expensive ships a.s.a.p. and have more time to complain about missing content in the forums :p

Come back from 2 weeks out on the rim with 2.5M worth of data and 250 first finds and 20% hull and you will dock absolutely perfectly.

Some of us have been practising docking for long time and it's easier now then when it was first introduced.

Docking computers are easy to spot by the way they crawl through the entrance dead straight and centre.

Docking with a stick is perhaps the easiest part of this game these days.
(assuming you don't fall asleep doing it)

1. Boost into the station
2. Kill speed
3. Align with dock
4. Thrust down.
5. ... ?
6. Profit

Only thing easier is perhaps leaving the station...

First you learn that you should always approach stations from the planet side so that you immediatly face the entrance. A split second after coming out of FSD i am already at full speed and boosting.
I got really good in knowing the limitations of the docking computer that i do use all the time. Usually i boost until about 4km from station and then let the DC do its work.

None of the things you describe are in any way unusual. Once the Docking Computer kicks in I usually head off to make a coffee, so I'd never see a message anyway. As for orienting towards the Station, I have never yet exited FSD and not seen the Station right in front of me. Exiting the Station at speed is child's play. In fact it's far better to do it that way than risk a fine for loitering.

I will also add that, in the normal course of play, I never bother looking at the comms when playing - I never seem to encounter other players where I am so I never got into the habit of checking for messages. A couple of times I have only noticed that someone has messaged me earlier on when I accidentally glanced at the top left of the screen. I did once actually notice someone message me while I was docking manually, but seriously, there was no way I was going to type to to someone while in the middle of docking. I didn't want to risk hitting something on the keyboard that would result in the accidental destruction of my ship. :D

I used to use the docking computer a lot and will do again once 1.2 goes live but when I'm docking the last thing I want to do is chat and you can be sure others with a focus on docking with the knowledge that expensive cargo is in the balance along with a multimillion credit insurance rebuy makes many pilots not exactly keen on being distracted with chat :D

It's just practice... and a decent joystick.

Oh, and you can't dock perfectly AND respond to hails at the same time. :)

It doesn't matter how good a player is - they will not want to get involved in text chat during an intensive process like docking. They probably haven't even seen your incoming message if they are busy...

Intensive???

I peel bananas whilst I dock it's so easy - I needed more challenge

:p

The reason people who are docking skillfully at high speed don't reply to chat is .. because they are docking skillfully at high speed.

and can dock my type 7 at full speed perfectly sometimes
Anyone else notice that the T7 seems to have stalks for landing gear? With a Viper you need to basically kiss the ground to dock. A T7 you can be WAY above the landing pad and it will still clamp it (as long as the landing inidcator is in the blue and you're stopped).

been playing since december, and i do like to properly gun for the letterbox on occasion, its the best 'bottom tightening, teeth clenching, breath holding' fun you can have with 500ton of Palladium on board a type 9. i still havn't figured out, or in any rush.. to.. figure out the chat system yet, it isn't that im anti-social you understand, its just that i dont even like talking to npc's in game, so talking to real people would be akin to snorting madras and eyeballing a whisky. im not a bad person, you can ask anyo.. well, actually, maybe you cant.

Yes; Its no problem your antisocial...

I love Docking , It's a Rush, & barreling anything (Npc's.) up to a Cobra out the way in the Airlock is stunning, especially as you enter the station...Boooom, kill the thrust, pitch 180% to see the Debris clogging, I am sorry if that's a bit Psycho, but i don't get out much.

CMDR Badnews. out.

Yeah. Never saw the interest in docking like that; in Alpha's, or Beta's or now...different strokes.

Good point! +1

people who have difficulty docking ether is using a keyboard/mouse or is dumb/ and couldn't drive a bicycle, much less a multi-million dollar space vehicle. I found it retardedly easy even on a 360 controller. how come people think its so hard/difficult? the hardest part is requesting docking permission.
