CQC Bots and lobbies that show how many players/games are going on. It's not rocket science!

Come on Frontier, the state of CQC is a huge black stain on your and the games reputation right now. Sure some may quite rightly argue it should never have been made as it distracts from the main game. But you did make it, and so you can't just leave it as a half finished and almost dead chain around your necks. As a company you need to priorities getting it into an acceptable state before moving on to the next shiny shiny. It's not rocket science, it needs bots and it needs improved lobbies that tell you what's going on.

You must know this already, I mean you guys aren't stupid I'm sure. Bots mean when people want to play they can. This will lead to them staying in game and therefore being more likely to be available when other people want to play. People actually being able to play when they login instead of staring pointlessly at a spinning icon for a few seconds before logging out in disgust will in turn lead to more people actually sticking around and getting into, what is actually, a really fun space shooter, when you can find a game, which for me over the past couple of weeks has been once.

Lobbies that tell you more than absolutely nothing what so ever are also a no brainier.

Leaving CQC drowning in the gutter like some kind of Frankenstein's monster you got bored of before bothering to give him eyes, legs and at least half a brain is a very poor advertisement for the "main" game and your company in general. Sort it out or do the decent thing and kill it once and for all.

On one hand, I agree that CQC could use some new features.

On the other hand, the features you describe are not simple and not free. They're already running behind their original plans in the main game. What major features would you be willing to delay in order to get CQC fixed up?

The problem is it needs fixing or a dead weight, worse it's a monument to Frontier not finishing what they start. The message it sends is terrible. Now I would of advocated putting all their effort into the base game and not making CQC in the first place. But as they did (and actually did a really good job up to a point) they absolutely need to fix those two key issues I mentioned and frankly everything on the todo list for the main game can wait compared to the sorry state of CQC. Lobbies is a cheap and easy job, Ai bots is of course much trickier but it's not like their starting from scratch. There is already AI capable of driving and shooting and any work done in CQC to make them better at navigating around installations is applicable in building more interesting and dynamic encounters around those same structures in the main game.

The extra work needed to fix CQC is small compared to the original effort that has been expended on it. To not get it fixed wastes that effort and says all the wrong things about how Frontier approach problems.

Fundamental features for any arena style multiplayer that we've been yelling for since release. No response from FD. I think they've used all the ressources they had for CQC, and have now left it dead in the water.

Don't hold your breath. Go to a haz res instead. Lots of fun! :)

Hello,

CQC need some little change!!!

1) The match macking system need to show :
- the estimated time and the waiting time.
- the number of player waiting for play for each game mode.

2) During the break between 2 games, the craft ship window! (Players who start CQC need to leave for change ....)

Thx!

My suggestions would be:

1) allow Arena to be joined from within the main game. Don't split the game modes. Let people "queue up" for it from within the main game, perhaps with limitations that they can't join matches while in combat
2) Xbox and PC crossplay

1) No thanks. Its already too intrusive there with irrelevant stats showing on the in-ship panel.
2) Don't even have that feature in the main game (even though the universe is shared). And what about Mac and PS4?

Wouldn't it make sense to (randomly) have stations that are all collaborating on a 'bout' (like cable) who show the current ongoing tournament match and lineup: as well as signups for the next (every hour or something reasonable). The advertising panels start showing player names who've won, a whole panel dedicated to the last 'tournament' and broadcasting the current stats if not video feed.

The payouts semi-decent for 1st / 2nd / 3rd place, longer inbetween signup times for 'teams' .. blah blah. Details can be hammered out by Frontier but it'd really go a long way I'd think having it more in your face, common and rewarding.

I havent even tried cqc yet, mainly just focusing on main game and it came to me, an idea, why cgc is not some way included in the main game it self? Of course it could still create an separate instance or something where the battling would go down but it would be cool add for the game for example factions/powers would have cqc as option used in game play, perhaps even they would have something like daily quests for cqc and therefor it should increase participate numbers perhaps greatly even.

Totally agree!

It would be awesome to play CQC with friends versus BOTs. Like combat training from COD Black Ops, or Horde Mode from Gears of War.

Just imagine how much fun it would be to get a bunch of cmdr's together (2-8) to take on bots in CQC! Team Death Match, CTF, attack and defend!

Heck, you could even have a capitol ship or alien ship drop in every few rounds to mix things up!

Also need to give people a reason TO play CQC (besides the fun) I suppose one way is to make it a legitimate way to earn some money.. unlike now it is ridiculous. And add some cool livery you can only get in CQC.. stuff like that.. and yes bots.

Got to give the OP rep for this. I have been in CQC several times so far and still have never had a match after waiting for ages watching a spinning icon. At least if I had some idea of how many other players are also waiting and how many the match needs to proceed, I might not have quit with a match being imminent.

For example: I drop out just when there's only one more player needed for a match, that now means two more players are needed. One joins as I drop out which would have triggered the start of the match but now, everyone else has to wait around for yet another player to join. This could lead to others dropping out as well. If we could actually see that there's only one more needed, we would be more inclined to wait it out. Even WoT has this feature.

I don't wish to spam this forum but you can get some idea if other people are waiting for a match if you join the CQC discord (link in my sig).

There are lot of people on this discord channel now and although there are still barren times (01:00 - 14:00 UTC approx.) you can usually see if there are other people queuing or ask them to if they are not.

hahahaha, i'm going to try and get on tonight then to at least try a reap as much revenge as i possibly can then ;-p

CQC really needs NPCs. I know it's not intended, but I've only played it a few times because I just sit in the lobby, waiting, then leave. Obviously, PvP is desired, but after sitting for 3 or 4 minutes, just spawn NPCs and start the game already.

All I can suggest towards this is that the faction of PBSF or Pixel Bandit Security Force tend to hold a CQC night every Tuesday 9PM or 10PM +0 GMT. don't quote me on the start times, but im sure if you locate a PBSF member on Inara they will glady tell you. :-D
