Bought ED Horizons on Frontier store - how to upgrade to Odissey?

Hi, I backed this game in 2014 when it was in development, but didn't get to play it much.

I wanted to give it serious try now but I was thinking of upgrading to Odissey to have a fully updated game.

My game client is from the Frontier store (neither Steam nor Epic) and when I visit the website to try and upgrade to Odissey it sends me to Steam.

Does buying the expansion on Steam upgrade my existing game or, as I'm expecting, Steam will just tell me that it needs the original game and expects me to buy it again there before I can use Odissey?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help (I'm assuming I'm not the first having this issue).

It would replace (and upgrade) your existing game, but stick with the from-Frontier launcher if you can.
Just go into the ED site
When you go to the Odyssey expansion, it defaults to Steam (for whatever reason) See the three platform logos at the top? - click the "Frontier" one.
It takes you here

That's because that is the "elitedangerous (dot) com" site as opposed to the frontierstore (dot) net site. I don't know why the non-frontierstore site should default to suggesting Steam, seems daft to me as Steam purchases default to giving a cut of all transactions to steam (valve).
