i have NO idea whats going on, but i cant access odyseey. i bought it via steam, ive tried validating files, ive tried unlinking my steam and frontier account, restarting the game, logging in and out, and yet the only thing that shows up in the frontlier launcher is horizons, horizons 4.0, elite dangerous, elite dangerous arena,and single player combat training. on steam it shows odyseey is installed and ready to play. i have NEVER had this much trouble accessing a DLC in my entire life.....

Your timing is immaculate. Just when you want to start the game, it goes offline for the introduction of a major update. They said they were warning of downtime at 05:00 so maybe by the time you tried to connect they had stopped new connections to the servers.

Had the exact same problem. Steam downloaded it, same in the menu for me wasn't there. Tried a lot of suggestions online nothing worked. What did work for me was uninstalling the whole game and then manually deleting the frontier folders in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local folder. Reinstalled game from steam then Odyssey was there. Hope this helps.
Just bought the game and having the exact same issue. Failed to communicate with authentication server. Guess will just have to wait for the devs to finish rolling out the update.

have to admit I do wonder how many potentials just gave up and asked for refund
if development is rushed in any way they deserve to pay the price for there lack of vision (sinister laugh)

Yeah bro its the update most likely. no one can play for 8 hrs or so . Keep the chin up and shortly they will come back online. Look me up when you get in the game and ill help you get started.

love the game now lol it actually plays quite well now if you can get it to start that is...………………..
its the same game with "walkies" so yea I enjoy it (PUPPY DOG CONTROL)
but as I already was a backer I did pay for it a long time ago with a risk that it would not even exist
and I can still play the old horizons (ablit not updated with new content) should i choose
would I buy it at full price knowing what I now know= NO
its worth half that imo but then again I look at fake sims such as destroyer the u boat hunter on steam and think its worth every penny in comparison and I mean every penny(don't be fooled by that ones impresive start up sequence etc worth 1 tenth the asking price if that atm imho)

you will begin to play at 15:00 or after the download has installed. be patient you just came in/brought at the wrong time.
Although to be fair to the newcomers in the thread it is worth pointing out to them that you have been playing Elite Dangerous otherwise for some considerable time.
