Newcomer / Intro Boundaries of inhabited space in the ED galaxy

Hi.

I seem to remember someone saying that stations and outposts start getting thin on the ground somewhere about 400 LY out, but 400 LY out from where? The core? Sol?

Where's the (roughly) central point for the sphere of inhabited space and is it a fairly even distribution?

Whats the most remote outpost you've come across so far?

Everything is based on Sol's mass and radius, so I highly assume Sol is base point.
I've read the border is more close to 500 Ly.

Note that NPCs will interdict you up to around 400-500Ly of the nearest inhabited space, so even once you go beyond the last outpost you may be attacked by NPCs. Once you go out beyond this (for deep space exploration) you're pretty much on your own though.

I am currently in systems 100LY from Sol, with 24-hour traffic 5 ships or so. There is no need to fly far away if you are looking for quiet space.

Go to your Galaxy Map...View Tab...Filter by Gobernment system...select them all....zoom out

You will see the "bubble" of inhabited space...rather tiny.... ;-)
