Bounties against wanted ships

Probably already been discussed...

What's the deal with getting a bounty on someone who's showing WANTED but before the scan is complete?

It shouldn't matter that you don't yet know what faction he's in or if he's in a wing or not, if he's wanted he's wanted.

Any thoughts?

You are only allowed to attack someone you know is wanted. You know it as soon as the scan tells you. It's really as simple as that. There's no doubt, no ambiguity, just scan before you shoot.

As far as the BGS goes, It should go against the authority when you gain the bounty, but should count for them when you cash it in.

Just a somewhat educated guess though. Gaining fines and bounties go against the local authority. State buckets should be similarly affected.

You don't know what you shot - so how did you know it was wanted?
I guess that's the rationale.

I can test it after I'm done with some other tasks.

You can do it by not targeting anything in a RES and waiting for a scan. The telltale comms asking what you have in your hold or an "I see all" will let you know that they're wanted. Just don't scan them until you nick their shields.

I targeted the ship
Basic scan commences
Details progressively populate in the target panel
WANTED appeared on the panel s o I Started shooting. .....bounty on me

I did not start shooting until after I knew he was wanted.

Scan continued to populate his faction and wheter he was in a wing

Honestly it shouldn't even matter he was engaged in combat against police. ...I was helping out the cops, lol
