Bounties and faction support question

A system faction that i support when im in the area expanded recently to a nearby system.
I was told by another faction supporter that collecting bounty claims in the original system and cashing them in in the second system (the one recently expanded into) would help advance the faction in the new system.
Does that go for just faction bounties or do superpower bounties occurring with the faction bounties help too?
Also, does anyone know how the advancment is counted? Is it a percent increase in influence based on credits paid or ??

Turn your bounties in at a station where the controlling faction is the faction you want rep with.

Bounties do nothing to advance your superpower rank, although it may move you from cordial to friendly. It doesn't really matter what your standing is with a superpower though AFAIK.

Edit: Bounties would help the expanding faction if they were the controlling faction, otherwise I don't think it affects them beyond preventing lockdowns.
