Bounties - confused

So i have spent the evening racking up kills on wanted criminal scum. Do i have to go somewhere to claim the bounties i get from this?

I'm really confused, because I should have over 50,000 credits but they just aren't there.
Also, after destroying a wanted hauler the police started shooting at me and now i have bounty on me.

So confused.

Yeah you have to claim them in a station with the correct allegiance for the bounty. Have a look at the guide in my sig, it explains all of this in detail.
