My wife was flying nearby at the time, but I couldn't see either of you

when i saw it it had about 40%ish hull and shields just back. i held distance and it deployed hardpoints only when i closed in. i was not hit once...

Have you checked your status? Though having said that I have never knowingly seen you attack other people (unless in self-defene). This seems to have happened a few times to players recently (the anacondas that is). There are two types of Anaconda in that mission - can you confirm if it's both types?
I still think it's the devs climbing in to the cokcpits of the Anacondas and having a right old gas as they scrap-recycle us

My status was clean with no bounty.
I have in the past attacked at least one of the Anacondas ... because I was bored, but twice now I've gone into that scenario and without attacking them, they turn red on me.
The last time it did it, one was Mastopolos Prospect and one was Lode Monger, I did identify them.

Since the update I too have seen this. I was clean as a whistle, no bounty etc and once I got close to the Anaconda - KERPOW!!
Thinking it was a bug I went back in and the same thing happened

Got red Anaconda's too. Maybe some strange peer to peer session bug triggers that
I assumed it was players flying through the mining lasers giving the anacondas a bounty and making them hostile.
I have found when attacking anacondas, the tactic is to attack when they are close to an asteroid and just watch as they fly straight into it and destroy themselves.

Haha... reminds me of those sheep that tumble over when they get scared.. hope the AI gets smarter than that..
Watch the top right of the screen for notifications that one of the Anacondas has deployed its weapons. If you see that be prepared to run as they aren't happy. I think the Anacondas are badly bugged as I and 2 others pounded on one and could do no damage to it and it never even fought back. Perhaps it had already been destroyed and the asset had not been removed? Either way it was both amusing and frustrating.
I've had a few weird encounters with the Anacondas.
A couple of times they've been doubled up, 2 of each name flying together. Each of the pair working in the same area but doing their own thing.
One time I found one stationary, apparently stuck between two asteroids. Of course I attacked it
I shot it's shields off and got it down to 0% hull without it reacting but it wouldn't die. It then slowly turned side on to me and opened it's weapon bay before shooting wildly in all directions except at me.
... and then the game crashed
I've also used them to destroy other players who were attacking me. Flying really close around one until the other player shot them by accident and was quickly destroyed by it's big beam lasers
