Bounty and detention center for misfire

Happened last night at RES and today after the cops showed up when a pirate interdicted me. At RES site it was a miner I was defending that flew into the line of fire and got a stray hit, today I barely scratched a system security as they flew into the line of fire again. EDIT: Just happened again, video a couple posts below.

So this has started again? Has been like this for only a little time now, wasn't so long ago just a few days back, when I still got only fined on similar occasions. Old bug resurfacing after last downtime, or am I missing something here? Incredibly annoying and very bothersome to have to jump 6 or so jumps on my low range ship to get back to missions or whatever it is I was doing. Also I do not carry a fuel scoop on my local ships so I even had to stop to refuel at a station last night! [haha]

Alright granted, this was sort of hilarious but after a sort of sad fashion. But I am pretty sure this isn't as intended. Could swear it's the old problem resurfacing but not sure. Also I want to point out that the threshold for getting into trouble after a misfire seems changed as well as the penalty. Last night I think it was a crew member in an SLF getting the penalty so the DPS could not have been overtly much. Today yea, it was probably my huge beams. But still, as soon as the system security danced into my beams I got the wanted status. Like instantly. The threshold seemed much higher just a few days back.

I am perplexed here. I am still not fully awake today and last night I guess I was a bit tired so it might be I am missing something here, but still. Does not feel right. Would appreciate some feedback.

You only get a bounty for a kill, they must have died after you friendly fired on them. Friendly fire has already been toned down to be much more forgiving than it was.

The fix is checking your targets.

Yea I know this, I would not have made the thread otherwise. Of the system security I know for a hard fact they did not die. So there is something wrong here. EDIT: Also the bounty amount of 200 Cr. kinda proves this. Also this just happened again and I just checked shadowplay and the system security wasn't even in the line of fire, but just turned red. I am hostile in the system due to powerplay but that is not supposed to make the security hostile to you. Am trying to upload a video on it currently.

Also checking your fire is kinda old thing to say. That's so condescending. You ought to know yourself that sometimes non-enemy flies so fast into your line of fire that it is impossible to avoid hitting them. Especially with weapons with slow projectile speed. I do check my fire, same as always. And sometimes things still happen but it is extremely rare for me these days though.

Here's a video about it. The system security is well behind me and my fighter wasn't responsible either (I don't think they ever accidentally shoot a non-enemy anyway), and you can see a security turning red for no apparent reason. Turning red, well before I even get the bounty, actually, as you can see in the video. Sorry for the poor quality that's windows movie maker free version for ya I guess.

Third time in in 12 hours. Gahhh... Not funny anymore. Must be a bug, right?? :S Maybe this warrants a post in the bugs -section of the forums?

Watching that video, you can see that at 15 seconds in, your right side laser beam hit the security vessel that was behind your target resulting in a bounty and not a reckless weapons discharge..

The easy solution: you belong to the Kumo Crew, and rank 5 removes any bounty penalty within his borders.

Plus, you are a bloodthirsty pirate. Popo get in the way then so what? Hose the popo and anyone stupid enough to come after you.

Not quite right.

"Reckless Discharge" = Fine, only happens if you hit someone and are not targeting them.
"Assault" = Bounty, no notoriety. Happens if you keep hitting someone after a reckless discharge, or if you hit someone while targeting them.
"Murder" = Bounty + notoriety (will happen if they die after an Assault charge)

So, no, bounty is not just for kill, but for assault beyond reckless discharge.

Reckless discharge in action, leading to a bounty:

Assault Bounty instantaneous if you're targeting them

Hang on... in that video you're marked as Hostile in the current jurisidiction. This means all Authorities for that jurisdiction will be hostile to you instantly. You then target the authority ship at 0:14 seconds, which is a valid target for your fighter since it's hostile to you... so your fighter attacks a hostile ship, and it's clean, so you get an assault bounty.

All seems working as intended to me. Check your rep with Telliocani Imperial Society.

Simply not true ... sorry m8.

A security ship ran into one of my packhounds and I left the instance right away before it could die.
I had a 200cr bounty and was sent to prison for that.

Yep. Shooting other ships, even without a kill, is normally a bounty.

Yea okay if you spotted that there, but how is that a bounty and not a fine? Also does not explain why he turned red to begin with, right at the start of the video, the security that's behind me.

In reply to some other posts: Being powerplay hostile does not make the local security hostile to you btw. Shouldn't, at least. Does not happen in my home systems where I am hostile because of powerplay no matter the amount of scans. I can recall when powerplay launched and people were afraid to enter systems because of the hostile status, which doesn't actually mean anything beyond powerplay ships. Then there seems to be hostile status otherwise, where you see the hostile factions ships red on the radar. Then the attack after the scan would have made sense. Also the systems security faction is not hostile to me in local reputation in the last system. I am friendly there with the said faction.

On belonging to Kumo Crew, yea that is lovely. Just doing round two of powerplay item reward circuit :/

I gitted so gud at checking my targets back when it was much harsher that I've never been to space pokey.

Why did you turn yourself in rather than visiting an IF?

And this is the kind of thing young bucks who don’t think the rules apply to them say.

I’ll take the supposedly condescending attitude. More likely to stay out of prison that way.

Yea making a great impression presuming age yourself there ole matey ;)

I am far from a young buck. Very far.

You suppose quite a bit yourself and I presume (ha) that your perception regarding this whole thing is a bit colored. About the rules and all. Just plain wrong.

Anyways, my last post on the previous page answers all the proper replies I think. Still quite unsure what's going on with this. Jmanis post is actually the one that's closest to an explanation. Still, the security turns red behind me, after what I think is a finished scan. And I am friendly with their faction. I don't think this is as intended.
