Bounty and friends

So a friend of mine got scanned holding a lot of slaves on his ship and his fine was around 100,000. He said there is NO way he is going to pay it so after the 24 hours it turned into bounty. A different friend of ours blew him up. That friend did NOT get the bounty, and when my friend got blown up it took away all of his money around 150,000. He then had to take a loan out on his ship again, went into debt and started back out with 1,000 credits.

What happened? Why did my one friend not get to collect the 100k bounty? Why did it take away my dead friends 150k?

Did the friend that blew him up scan him with a kill warrant scanner first? Im guessing he did not. Thats why he didn't get the bounty.

Your other friend died, which means he had to pay his fines and didn't have enough to cover it.

My friend (person A) DID NOT use warrant scanner. But it did say my other friend (person B) was "WANTED".

Person B did say his fine was for 100k and had around 150k.

Now this leads me to a follow up question. Bounty ends up getting deducted from the person that the bounty was on? My friend had a 100k bounty, so upon his death OWED 100k back to the game?

Oh wow, is that really true? because it would make sense then lol.

And as far as my other friend not getting the bounty, because he didn't use a kill warrant scanner?

Hmm if he showed as wanted, one would figure that he would get it. Maybe he didn't use KWS to collect his Federation bounty while he was wanted for 500 CR in some independent system (and killed there) So maybe he got like some small amount?

I figure that ED put something in place so this bounty system is not abused.

Its either a bug or your friend killed the wanted person in a system where they were not wanted.

Always use KWS ... in PvP that might not be an option (humans in general don't stick around in sights long enough), but vs NPC certainly is.

But check they are wanted in this system first before using the KWS. You don't want go getting a bounty on yourself.
