Engineers Bounty at Felicity Farseer

LOL .. I was in my srv pretty far away from their base and destroyed some skimmers. It gave me a bounty.

So I leave and come back so I'm not hostile and dock - there is NOWHERE you can pay off the bounty. IF they ever scan me I'm dead.

I take it there are no other stations in the system with that faction so this will be a permanent bounty!

[noob]

Gotta watch what you say on the forums. That's FD's way of getting back to you. Interdictions are about to increase. :D

The bounty system in this game is obtuse retardation. It's the kind of convoluted, bureaucratic nonsense one would expect to find in a old corporation that has more middle management than employees on the production floor. I sincerely hope that was not what they were intending to simulate, but if so, good form Frontier, you nailed it!

Get sidey. Go to Farseer. Let the skimmers that patrol the base kill you. Dumb but it works.

Great idea!

Tatwi are you in mobius? I think I saw you the other day.. one of only 2 people I've seen in like weeks.

You can pay a fine (or collect a bounty) in any station of any system that has the faction that issued the fine (or bounty).

You can't pay off bounties issued against you for crimes anymore - not immediately. Forgot when but long ago they changed it such that bounties were not paid off as fines at the station.

now if you have an active bounty - it stays active bounty for X min / hours / days - depending on size of bounty. If you survive, it then becomes a dormant bounty which goes through another X time to turn into a legacy fine which can be paid at any station with that is sung faction.

if you die with the bounty on you, but are not scanned by the issuing authority, then the bounty turns into a dormant bounty, which again has a time period before it turns into legacy fine and can be paid off

sidewinder suicide for bounties or dormant bounties only works if you are scanned by the issuing faction, then killed with that bounty claimed.

the problem here is I've had similar issue and planet side you can get a minor, non control of system faction to issue bounty (trespass on planet base for example). Which means you have a bounty you can't suicide off - because the minor faction does not control the system and has no authority ships at station or in space to scan and turn your dormant bounty into active.

It it just resets the time on your dormant bounty back to default, which is insane

I self destructed my SRV out of boredom yesterday, and my bounties were cleared.

The bounties placed on you? Or the bounties you earned killing wanted players/npcs?

All earned bounties clear on death. No active bounty placed on you gets cleared on death - it turns into a dormant bounty unless you are scanned and bounty claimed by the major faction who owns the system you are in when death occurs.

If you had an actual wanted bounty or dormant bounty clear via self destruct in SRV, something I could not replicate, then count yourself lucky as being fortunate beneficiary of a bug

That's factual information and maybe of interest to the OP. I was correcting his incorrect assessment that there was no way he could play. He will be able to pay it at any station in the system, when it becomes dormant a legacy fine. ;)

There is one way to get off active Bountys. Get scanned from a player with a T-Scanner and than get killed by him.
For dormant Bountys it will not work. But you can make them active...

Do what I am doing, go on holiday to Spain for a week, come back, no more bounties. Also hope that a few of the more annoying features have been fixed.

Well you make that clear now - but your original reply lacked the all important distinction between a bounty vs legacy fine.

You can pay a fine (or collect a bounty) in any station of any system that has the faction that issued the fine (or bounty).

...'once it turns into a legacy fine' is the obvious trailer that should have been at end of that statement.

Obviously you know the difference. My reply was for those that didn't or new players to avoid the frustration that can sometimes come from having an endless dormant bounty refresh itself - over and over - because they do not know you can no longer pay off anything labeled as bounty until it is a legacy fine or claimed by ship killer via scan / sidewinder suicide to scanner

It's amazing how many answers here have no idea what they are talking about. His problem actually is: he has a bounty on him by Felicity Farseer. It also is possible, albeit very rare, that you get claims for her or any other engineer. Neither of them can be handled the proper way on contacts.

The whole problem is a small remnant of the original design, where Engineers actually were intended to hand out missions, instead of being a mindnumbing grind. (Yes, originally Frontier had a good idea on how to do that, but building that would've taken a little more time, so they decided against quality and for grind. ) Despite the system being changed, the Engineers remain to be hidden minor powers. Claims and bounties by them are unlikely, but they can happen, without having any function. They currently can only be wiped by death. (It -might- be that The Blaster allows you to check in claims by him. I have not checked, but as claiming bounties is possible at his base, there is a chance that for him it could work. No guarantee, though. )
