Horizons Bounty gained during interdiction????

I'm running a a passenger mission and get interdicted. I noticed there were two ships and one for sure was wanted. Guess i did't check the other one or something. I drop a trail of mines....one ship goes boom....i get a bounty credit for killing him.....then second ship goes boom and i am wanted. I mean i just assumed since i was interdicted that both ships were bad guys and it was safe to drop mines. Afte getting scanned 5 times in a row trying to dock and having to SC away and try again, i get a Sidey and let the cops slay me to get make it dormant....thinking i could then pay it off....nope cant pay if off. On top of that, i had to drop a bunch of missions/passengers to get the Sidey and now i am limited to 8 missions and it tells me i am at the mission limit. Can somoene at least PLEASE tell me how to get my 20 mission limit back?

Always wait for ship scan to finish to see if they're wanted or not, if you fire before it's completed you become wanted even if your attacker turns out to be wanted. By the sounds of it, in this case the ships were clean, so you picked up a bounty for killing them.

One showed wanted, but i did not target the second ship and just started laying mines. I didn't realize i needed to scan at all first. So firing on a wanted ship gets you a bounty even if they are wanted? Doesn't seem to me like it should be that way, but good to know.

Firing on a ship before your scan has completed will always result in a bounty, if the scan then completes and the ship turns out to be wanted, you'll get a bounty for killing it, though you'll still be wanted for firing early. Your wanted status only lasts for 10mins or so in this case, and jumping out the system and back in after this period will allow you to pay your fine off if you so desire. If your aligned to a Powerplay faction and you're in an enemies system then that factions ships can attack you at will and not become wanted, however you'll become wanted for firing back.
