Bounty hunting going a step further, pirate prevention?

I was watching the mighty jingles getting interdicted and he said that most of the pirates seem to be in the starting systems, so I had a thought. Is it possible to police these systems ourselves, by looking for juicy pirate targets and keeping an eye on them? If you see someone in a cargo ship being followed by a potential pirate and they get interdicted, will you be able to see the energy wake and drop out of supercruise to save the guy/kill the pirate?

I would love for this to be possible as you could potentially get groups of players taking it upon themselves to police systems in a much more competent way than the authority vessels.

Already possible. Just watch for the pvp player to interdict the hauler or sidey. If they both disappear, target the low energy wake... Arrive at the incident. Often takes too long though but have made it to a couple. I'm finding this preferable actually. At least then you know for sure their intent, as most try their best to stay clean and inconspicuous till they pick on someone.

I like this idea of stopping piracy before it happens. That's why every time I see a player I make sure to blow them up. That way they can't pirate people. Filthy pirates. Sometimes, I even take their cargo, which they might have stolen from someone. Filthy filthy pirates.

Hmmm. This reminds me of Judge Death for some reason........

Once the game opens up and goes live for all it will pickup with the numbers of bounty hunters roaming the systems as too will the pirates. Fun times ahead. :)

Shok.

I'm doing this already, and having good fun! :)
Just interdicted 4 or 5 wanted commanders in the Eranin - I Bootis - Styx area. Only managed to kill 2 Cobras though, the others run away! :p
Filthy pirates! :D

I've just noticed that the interdictions in open play are still buggy: sometimes, even after a succesful and completed interdiction, you still get pulled alone out of SC. This has just happened to me vs NPC's and also vs commanders.

You get probably more moneys if you just go to a Nav Beacon with your KWS (unless you catch a commander with a fat bounty!), but it's fun to patrol and try to get legit traders rid of those filthy pirate scumbags! ;)

And what our fellow commander already said: it you catch their wake, you should land in the same instance with them again.
