Bounty hunting missions broken?

Ok Cmdrs so here's the deal. I'm not pledging in PP 2.0 until the thargs are all cleared up. But in-between the ticks I do a bit of bounty hunting while waiting for the next round of the war. So I stack a couple of kill 20 of X faction pirates and shoot of over to the system, all good. Until I realised, the 15 pirates of X faction I've just taken out in a haz res haven't counted towards the mission, even though they come up as "mission target" once scanned. Jumped out, found a signal source "mission target", jumped in killed 8, all 8 counted. But now there's no more mission signal sources to be found?

Is this deserving a place on the bug report page, or a new feature? Anyone else had this?

Ohhh.. dont say they've fixed it so the only way to kill em is via those signal sources which is as intended?
Hope not cos their considerably harder to clear down and as you nail one group the next one is further out towards the edge of the system. Relog addresses it but yeah this if Op is right, will slow massacres stacking completion considerably.

AFAIK there are two different types of kill pirate missions.
One asks you to kill a specific bunch of pirates that you will find in a specific USS. That USS will contain all the pirates you need to kill, if you fail and retreat the USS will respawn until you managed to kill them all.
The other asks you to generally kill pirates of a specific faction, it doesn't matter where you find them. Nav Beacon, SC, RES, USS... This mission type also spawns a mission USS, but without the specific targets.

So I guess you took two kill pirate missions, the pirates you killed in the RES contributed to the other mission with the unspecific targets.

Might it not simply be a case of taking two jobs for the same faction? In that case, first one job is completed, then the next. If, for example, Tsondama Liberals offer two jobs, one to kill 18 Pirates, one to trounce 45 pirates, then the first 18 kills are only counted for the first job. If, however, I take two jobs to whack pirates from different employers, then each kill counts towards both jobs.

If you want them to stack, you have to take missions from different factions. Missions from the same faction do not stack, and must be completed sequentially.
Yeah I know, that's not the problem. It's kills of the correct targets not counting outside of "Mission target" signal sources. You could rock up to a Nav beacon, haz res or bulk carrier and complete the mission in a couple of runs, rather than chasing signal sources all over the system.

As I said above, that depends on the mission type. In one mission type targets in RES and Nav Beacon count, in the other they don't.

Ah ok, I didn't know there was types of bounty missions, I've always just taken the "kill x amount of X faction" missions.

After 3 years of playing, I'm still learning something new. Thanks fella, I'll keep an eye on it.

Bounty missions can be completed in nav, RES, interdictions, and the newer mission related signal sources. I have switched from RES site to mission related SS mid-mission sometimes if the RES is a bit dry of targets. The mission SS were added at some point to make things a little quicker, but targets from any source will count towards missions. If anyone wants confirmation of this, just look at the mission description in the transactions panel, where it lists places to find targets.

The targets you killed were identified as mission targets in the RES. If they don't count towards mission progress then something is broken.

Picked up a mission and killed a pirate in the RES, and it counted towards mission progress. There's also a mission related SS in system that I could use. If it's still broken for you, then try some other systems further away, but I would guess this problem was fixed quickly after Ascendancy. Maybe in last week's patch.
