Bounty Hunting Question

Has bounty hunting been nerfed? When I played on XB1 (over a year ago), I would go to nav beacons, find a wanted target, destroy him/her and usually get a big chunk of change. Usually 70,000 to 150,000 each target.

I tried it last night and killed 3 NPCs and got less than 6,000 for each one! I don't have a Kill Warrant Scanner yet, is that what is making my payout so low? Or was it just bad luck? Are nav beacons not the place to bounty hunt anymore? I'm making much more money just doing missions, which I actually don't mind. But I'd like to bounty hunt here and there to make credits.

It depends on the instance. If all you are seeing are small fries, hop out and then go back in.

In general though, resource extraction sites are usually much better.

Nav beacons are probably not the best angle to pursue big ticket bounties. Like has been said, they are probably stuck around your own level so you'll be hard pressed to find any elite or even dangerous NPCs. Hit up the RES sites, high res has the biggest fish... low res are much easier to get a handle on. I like to poach high res once the police units start in on someone. You'll get a few elite, dangerous, master or deadly in there and hopefully hit up a few bigger ships like a python or clipper or if you are really shiny, the rare wanted conda might show up. Only pain in the part is being in the right spot to poach a few shot in on a police victim. Lots of times you see a fight going on a way off and make it there just in time to witness the perp blow up, or worse... get there and get stuck waiting for the wanted scan to register and then watch it blow up.
