Bounty hunting seems...less viable than it was previously

I used to be able to make at least 500k an hour or two in Resource Extraction sites by blasting cobras for anywhere between 9-18k a piece. Now all I seem to be finding are sidewinders, Eagles and the OCCASIONAL Cobra, maybe a viper. It just seems like I can't bring in as much as I used to. Did something change? Am I doing something wrong?

Not sure if trolling....

But if not, then you've come to the right place!
Bounty Hunting is now infinitely more profitable than previously. It's possible you may have just had a bad RNG roll on the site you went to.
A good way to check is to log out then back in again. Wait until the NPCs begin to pop into space and you "should" be seeing everything from Pythons to Clippers, Adders and more that are wanted. Some in Wings some not.

P.S. - Pythons are the new Conda. ;) They make an average of 60k per kill for half the work and they turn like a donkey tied to a ferris wheel. :D

Also, if in Open mode, double check there are no other players around stealing up all the juicy bounties before you get there.
If you're not "winging" it (I thank you), then Solo can actually be your friend here! ;)

I made just under 1M CR last night in an Asp at a RES. 2 Anacondas, a few Pythons, several Asps and plenty Cobras. Only stopped cause I ran out of MC ammo.

L O L -- are we playing the same damn game? Last week it took me roughly an hour to run out of ammo and return with a whopping 100K bounty. Today, it took me 15mins to run out of ammo and return with a really nice 870K bounty.

I tried four different resource points and came away with about 150k for 45 minutes.

First RES was just wanted adders. Second through fourth saw a wanted individual warp in maybe every five minutes, and max bounty was 22k all night.

I'll try again tonight with a kill warrant scanner as well.

I wasn't trying to troll or complain guys. Must've gotten a bad roll 'o the dice. I'll head back over and check it out. Thanks fellas!

You don't need a scanner. Go to a system with multiple RES, and fly between them. Once you see a clipper, python, conda or a federal dropship, you'll know you're in the right spot.
They die easily and give massive bounties.

I was sceptical at first too, but I just made 1.5 mil in ~45 mins.

Not agreeing with OP. I've had several resource extraction sites full of Python, Anacondas, Clippers and Dropships all giving me at least 50k. It's all about RNG (random number generation). If extraction site you drop to does not spawn bigger bounties, only small fries, move on to next one. Once you hit the jackpot, stay there and stack easily 1,5 million bounty per hour.

EDIT: Also find system that has resource extraction sites as far away from main star as you can, further away it is the more criminals there are, making it more likely for you to generate instance that has high bounty targets.

I dipped in last night and made 200k at Leesti RES in 20 mins in my mid-spec Viper. Much better than before; the AI is also vastly improved so it's a lot more fun, rather than the fish in a barrel it was before.

There are also a lot more security vessels to help out with the bigger targets.
