Hi,
Just had a rather bizarre encounter where I accidentally grazed a ship as it boosted in front of me whilst I was shooting my target...thanks for that. I get my $200 slap on the wrist and all of a sudden I'm getting blasted by everyone.
Now, the interesting part here is that previous to this, we were all shooting an Elite Anaconda with a $22k bounty.
Feedback and suggestions
1. A $200 bounty should never be a death penalty. Why put such a low bounty/fine/penalty when the effect is to essentially flag you for destruction, which will always cost more than $200! < $600 or three accidental shots on three different targets, should not result in KOS. As soon as law enforcement start shooting up my ship I'm wondering why they even bother with the bounty.
Perhaps levels of force for law enforcement?
- Level 0: > $0 - $200 = Warning message
- Level 1: > $200 - $600 = Couple of warning shots and a warning to go pay the fine
- Level 2: > $600 - $1000 = Enough to knock out the shield and a bit of hull damage and told to pay the fine now
- Level 3: > $1000 = Destroy
Time could also be a factor by shifting the level up after 48 hours.
2. The target with the highest bounty should always be the highest priority target for law enforcement. If a bounty hunter wants to go for an easier target with a lower bounty that's fine, but law enforcement are hardcore and should follow some basic rules of engagement. If there are targets with equal bounties, then another factor like duration of bounty or rank comes into play.
So, using my suggestions my scenario would of played out like this:
Idiot flies in front of me, I get a fine and I'm ignored by everyone except the Elite Anaconda who opens her cargo bay, swallows me up and poops me out in tiny metallic pellets. Her ship is then destroyed by the police who scoop up my remains and courier them back to my wife and family.
