I am thinking that would look nice on my desk!

I haven't owned a hard copy for a game for almost 8 years!

Sure why not.... Spent a fair bit of cash with PB, x52, 29" Ultrawide Monitor, EDtracker, rift... It would seem rude not to! But again have not seen the price yet?

Edit: Oh a tenner upgrade price.. worth it just for the box imo.

Could we have a "maybe" option.

I'm undecided as while I'd quite like a boxed set (I have Elite II and FFE boxed sets) the contents seem, well rather light. If it's nothing more than a pretty box with a starter manual and dvd with installer on as per the description I think I'll pass.

If it's a nice load of extras then I'll get it.

I like artwork, I like boxes... but I haven't bought a boxed product in quite some time

(1) I am not buying 20 boxes ( minimum quantity atm :D )
(2) The DVD will be irrelevant the second they release a patch, likely the next day.
(3) The DVD is probably irrelevant already
(4) I don't even know if my DVD drive works anymore

If it included the A3 star map available in the premium boxed edition (not the other extras) then I might think about it..

I was big into owning box copies and keeping the boxes. For a while I had every box for the PC games that I physically purchased, but when you have a few hundred boxes it really starts to take up space. Now I only keep the game I really care about (original F-19 box). So I voted no, with out any content, it would just end up being a box that would sit on my desk or bookshelf and collect dust, it would be one thing if it was free, but I am not going to spend money on a dust collector box.

Edit: And I would rather spend that money supporting FD by buying bobbleheads or skins, as FD would get more from that purchase.

I would like one but there's no way I would want or could afford the 20 that the store is currently trying to get me to buy.

No.

I have a wardrobe full of boxed games.
And now and then i get them out, and install them (maybe with help of emulators).

With ED there is no need to...
Either i can download the latest version.... or the servers are taken down.
There is nothing that a "box" could give me.

Looks like that issue of having to buy 20 copies of the game has been fixed. :) I'll order a copy for myself I think.

I jusr don't see the point of wasting physical resources on cardboard boxes and DVDs when they are entirely unnecessary these days. If they want to sell merchandise then I'm all for it, I bought a T-Shirt for instance. T-Shirt's have a use.

For me there is no point in getting a boxed version without an offline mode and with a constantly evolving game that will make the boxed copy obsolete in no time.

Does anyone know if the full box (£45) includes the Mercenary edition of the game as it's still a pre-order at this stage?

Mercenary edition (digital) = £35 and the box upgrade = £10 so the price seems right (good maths there I know) but it doesn't mention anything about the full version in the box being the Mercenary edition.

I'd like to buy an extra copy for my son and get the box and Mercenary edition for him.

If it was a collectors edition that came with a 12" Sidewinder statue, I would throw idiotic amounts of money at them!!!

But a DVD in a box? nah...

you are quite right, as you don't get it :) (psst : It has nothing to do with it being worth it or not,as it is NOT worth it !)

yes, I will be getting one for a tenner :)
