Boxed Edition Latest Info

Here's the information sent today to those that have ordered the 'Boxed Edition'. Beyond the (understandable) fact that it'll take a while to cut the DVDs with a current version of the initial production game it seems clear the activation code can be used by anyone with a new account, i.e. you can gift this...

Thank you for your purchase of the Elite: Dangerous Boxed - Full Edition.
We wanted to let you know as soon as we became aware that there is a risk that this may not now be delivered to you before Christmas. We want the contents of the disc to be as close as possible to the Elite: Dangerous 1.0 that will be released on December 16th and there have been a slight delay to our original disc production schedule. We apologise for this, and please be assured we will work as hard as possible and to try and get it to you before Christmas.
To ensure you can play Elite: Dangerous 1.0 on December 16th we have included your unique access key below that will allow you to download the full game upon its release and access the Elite: Dangerous Mercenary Edition features:

  • Your very own Eagle fighter ship docked in a secondary location in-game
  • Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs
  • A 'day one' ship decal
  • A digital concept art book
  • A digital players guide
Additionally, you can activate this key at any time before December 16th and gain immediate access to the Single Player Combat Demo and start practising your piloting skills.

Just to say, as one who ordered the 'Premium' boxed edition, I haven't received the email.

Personally don't mind about the delay though - I'd rather they got things right.

Was that part of KS/Alpha/Beta?

Wondering if Bambam_ofc bought the Boxed Edition after that.

I bought it last week, as a gift, and have been worried ever since that it was going to be tied to my account... so the 'gift' aspect of the email is actually more valuable to me than the concern over the shipment delay.

I got this e-mail. I have ordered the full box edition for my brother and the ten quid upgrade box for me (seeing as I am a beta backer already).

So does this mean that once my boxed set arrives I can gift that as well as gift the e-mailed code?

That is very kind of them if so...

I think the full box and the upgrade box are fundamentally different products:

The full box includes an access key that you can use on any account, that enables that account to install and play the game. The game can be downloaded or installed from the included media (but you still have to be connected to play). Plus there's the hard-copy media.

The upgrade box includes the DVD and the hard-copy media, i.e. it only make sense for people that already have an oniine account licenced for the game,

Why do the original Kickstarter backers get less communication? I'm getting increasingly frustrated...

I have yet to see my backer decal despite the newsletter yesterday claiming everything was active in-game and then I saw someone walking around the premier wearing an 'I backed Elite' t-shirt yet mine is nowhere to be seen. And now people are getting apology emails about the box edition being delayed while I remain in the dark.

And to top it off - the backer app continues to be unavailable.

I'm a kickstarter with a collectors edition ordered and no email for me either. :(

The same as me, and nothing yet either.

My address in my order (not my address book) shows as incorrect as it's missing my postcode and county. I've opened a ticket but no-one has looked at it yet since I opened it five days ago.
