Braben and Bell ....The Making of Elite

Seen this on YouTube a while back. It is a good watch and very interesting. Looks like Ian Bell & David met at a D&D game :)

Haha I think all of us can look back and say. What the hell was I doing back then. Retrospect is a powerful thing!

I know it sure got me into games in a big way.......always remember seeing that at a mates house (yeah he was into D & D) and was blown away .As soon as the paper round money was there it was straight down to the game shop.............HHHHHOOOOOKKKKKEEEEDDD

I started out with all the games workshop "grooming" games like HeroQuest and Space Crusade. Never got sucked into the WarHammer cash cow like some people I know (some of those guys never got out of that).

Yeah - I always stuck to pen and paper AD&D or Cyberpunk or Paranoia or ASL or Rolemaster. Like to use imagination rather than models so never 'progressed' to 3rd Edition AD&D either, actually most of my RPG friends are now either dead or married.... :D
But yeah, I think the crowd that played Elite were pretty much the RPG crowd too.

...and it certainly looks like Frontier is going to go for best game ever again. :)

Rolemaster - yes, AD&D - only as computer games, like Darksun, Baldur's Gate and so on. I'm still playing pen & paper, although with a system that I invented with one of my best friends.

Don't know if its because we are all from the same era or if its just the great community here but I can say this is one of the most welcoming forums on the web .......keep it up lad's it feels good to be a part of it .
