Braben Woollens in Agartha

While hanging out around the core Empire systems, I noticed a system very close to Achenar named Agartha that purported to sell 'Braben Woollens". Well, I was intrigued and wanted to buy some of these lovely things for myself, so I flew over and landed at the main station (Enoch Port), and checked the commodities market. No woollens! Glancing at the system map, I noticed a small outpost (Cummings Resort) which could potentially hold them. Seeing as I fly an Anaconda, I bought a Sidey and went over to Cummings. Upon landing, I was crushed to discover that they didn't have them either! We need to get them as a rare commodity or something so we can haul Braben Woollens across the galaxy.

I would not normally support the introduction of another rare - particularly in Empire space. However, I am guessing that the description is a hang over from Frontier or First Encounters - where in-jokes like that were common. The idea of a Braben Bobblehead and a hold full of jumpers is just too good.

Is clothing cheap and for sale at either station? That might cover it, but if as I suspect it is the description from FE2 or FFE, then this is blatant canon - and FD need to embrace their woolly heritage and place the rare. Somewhere else needs to do the sunglasses as well....

To go with the 'Braben Woollens' we should also get a 'Minter Ungulate Beds' to keep the required sheepies warm and cozy.

Why? Do you like a game with no content?
Or is it the weak - "rares should be rare " argument?
Every station, base and planet in the galaxy could have a rare good and they would still be rare.

Agreed, every system over a certain population (maybe 1 or 10 million) should begin producing an unique local good as a "rare commodity" - rare as in it can be found only in one system.
Adding local flavor like that might also alleviate some of the "sameness" of most human systems too.

Only needs a polulation of one, as Jaques has proved with his stills.

Unfortunately, in RL I have gone into malls on the opposite side of the world and seen the exact same shops selling the exact same things as at home. Maybe FD is trying to reflect this in game. But fortunately they have provided some unique background in a few places, and they are adding some interest to the game by having CGs to create more rare goods.

I think that it's actually referring to an in joke from the Kickstarter about the 'Braben sweater' rumoured to be hand knitted by virgins using a yarn made from chinchilla eyelashes. I support any call for Braben woollens or even Braben sweaters to be a rare goods in game

See Frontier? Us Commanders get cold out there in the vacuum! Woolens are all we need to keep ourselves (and hopefully many NPCs) warm out in the black!

I suggest a community goal of shipping Braben Woolens to the system of a dying star. :p
Maybe, but they would have to exist before we could ship them.
.
Assuming Agartha has an Earth-like world, a CG to help create Braben Woolens could be to ship grain to Agartha to feed the llamas.

Jeff Minter springs to mind with the llamas. :p

How about Braben's, Wollen, Truckers Brigade.

BWTB --------Be Warm Truck Braben! You know it makes sense, the best brand in the galaxy. :D
