Newcomer / Intro Brand new - game losing focus

Hi everyone,

I am enjoying the basics so far but there is a major bug that keeps kicking in. For no reason, and seemingly randomly, the game just freezes. I can still hear sound, and if i press keys i can hear the sound effects of those keys, but the screen itself is just frozen. It never recovers no matter what i do. Its driving me nuts and making me not want to play as its happening too often. Dont know how else to describe whats going on. Happy to answer questions but hoping someone else has seen this.

thanks,

Cropwolf

same here sometimes kinda disturbing :p

That sounds more like graphics card issue than the game's. My Vega does this if I clock it too high without enough voltage.
So if you overclocked your GPU, you could try turning it down a notch.
Could be a driver issue - how long does it do that? Is it recent?

YOu can also try to do the usual stuff - switching the game from borderless window to fullscreen or the other way around (depending on what you've had before), validating the game data in the launcher, trying to run it from different drive, switching RAM sticks, checking thermal paste, throwing a hamster out of the window because it partially chewed through HDMI cable,...

How often is it happening to you? It happens to me too frequently to play the game, maybe once every hour or so. I want to play but Ive got to have a fix for this.

Think it's happens in every 2 or 3 hour game play but I have the built in OC on with sli so I will guess to turn this off and try again and see if there is any difference ;)

If you (any of you) want to resolve the through the official channels, you can open a support ticket here, and/or create a thread here.
You'll be probably asked to send a DxDiag and game logs and somebody should come up with a solution.

The fact that this is an isolated problem (or otherwise there would be a hurricane of outrage going on in DD) means that it is probably something specific to your system or setup.

I had obviously overclocked my CPU ratio in bios so I changed it to Auto seems to be my problem but should test more games hours ahead ;)

This is not normal, the game is stable. From the launcher, under options there should be an option to validate game files; see if it needs to fix any game files. Do that and make sure your GPU drivers are not completely out of date and update if so.

I've noticed a few problems recently.
My game normally behaves itself impeccably, but recently I've noticed that the high wake jumps are taking much longer and the low wake jumps are taking ages to drop out when you arrive somewhere.

This indicates to me that there is either a problem with Frontier's servers or there is some, as yet undiagnosed, problem with my internet connection.

Happens to me, too - if my GPU is acting up. I have my system running reasonably stable right now (keeping fingers crossed), but I'm dreading how that will work out in a few months time when it starts getting hot. Otherwise, the recent update of MSI Afterburner seemed to have messed up things somewhat, so I had to readjust it to work with the curve again (I'm undervolting my GPU so that it still works with a theoretically underpowered PSU - you could use that PC as a space heater).

If that "recently" was yesterday evening, then that probably was the DW2 mass jump :D.
But yes, FD seems always to be fiddling with the servers - a good thing IMO, otherwise that jump yesterday (two instances of 60+ ships on PC plus some more on XBox, PS4 and non-registered) would certainly have crashed them again.
