Brand new Oculus Rift lands on my doorstep tomorrow, what do I need to know?

The nav map is crap in VR, even when set up to what the forum recommends it's soooo much slower and clunkier than just using a mouse. The rest of the game pretty much makes up for it though.

Wish FD would give us the option to just have a flat 2d map on a virtual 50" screen controlled the same way the none VR set up works, but hey ho, quality of life isnt as high on the list as they claim in my experience!

Agreed, while the 'in-game' is superb, the Map screen is....just.... abysmal. I'll need to spend a lot of time re-mapping the entire mapping keys to the HOTAS. Still getting the odd colour fade and stutter tho', will try the suggested 388.59 Nvidia drivers and see if that helps, but overall I'm impressed.

Now you can see how big everything in the game REALLY is!
You can even actually walk round your cockpit.
(Safety warning - make sure your safe play area is setup first so you don't trip over the sofa, TV, children, pets, significant other or knock prized ornaments off selves)
But, yes scale is everything. Especially space stations.

I now use my hotas to move around the galaxy map even when i don't use my VR headset. I find it fast and easy, and only slightly slower then using the mouse.

Indeed. Coop and touch support and it would be fighting for top spot as best vr game imo up there with pCARs, lone echo and of course ED

I played through the whole game in VR and hardcore mode. Talk about a thrilling experience. Probably the best I have had in gaming so far.

The VR implementation is not perfect but if you can disregard some minor flaws its just fantastic.

The most annoying problem I had was having to constant reset centre when entering the Seamoth and Cyclops.

And I only used mouse+keyboard. Works flawless.
