Horizons Bravo, FD!

Hi guys, my very first post after 3 months (or so) of intensive playing.

First of all, big bravo for FD for what they are doing.

Yes, this is the point of my very first entry and I did it on purpose.
Since I've red too much of a hate talk criticizing every aspect of what FD are doing.

Of course I get frustrated by a bug / game mechanics flaw every now and then.
But I'm by no means on the side of those "how can you introduce a bug into a game I paid for" people.
I've been SW developer myself for more then 10 years by now and as such I understand that a bug is an integral part of every SW development of anything, so to say, more complex then Hello World.
There are some flaws you simply don't anticipate. There are some bugs, which slip though QA process no matter what you do.
Many times, the only way, how to even get to know about some bugs, is that end customer is interacting with the product.
This is even more prominent when it comes to complex game mechanics (as opposed to individual isolated bugs).
You don't know how would the system behave, what would work for people, what would be fun, before you give it to users to test it by using it.
That's how this world work. You will receive a lot of bugs in every release, I guarantee you. It's normal. Get over it.

So please, count from 1 to 10, or go to gym before you relieve your frustration in the form of an angry post. Be constructive.

Anyways, does this forum has a 'wishlist' or 'feature request' section?
I have some idea I'd like to discuss, but not sure where to post it.

Thanks.

Honestly, the game is fantastic, what you'll find is a lot of people who have been playing for a while getting frustrated at certain long standing bugs/badly implemented mechanics not being addressed and yet new content being added that kinda creates more of a mess at times.

Truth is, I've been happily enjoying this game since Beta 2.4, and I can't think of many games that have held my attention for anywhere near as many hours as ED.

Bravo, FD, indeed!

Z...

I couldn't agree more. As a software engineer myself I have to say that we are essentially bug hunters. Bugs are an integral part of our work. Be it bugs from the tools we are using or self made ones. I assume that there are quite some developers/IT pros in this forum who can appreciate that. In 1986 Elite (On an Amstrad 6128 w/ green monitor) was the game which actually sparked my interest in computers. From there on it was a wild ride. I don't regret a thing.

Thank you so much for the journey FD, keep up the good work.

Best,
Styx

Thanks for the positive thread. Elite 1986 was my first pc game crush as well, and E: D is currently the only game I play or have interest in playing. Despite it's numerous shortfalls, it is a very special and unique experience (especially in VR)!
