Stocks in Gutamaya [Gut.] and Faulcon deLacy [FdLX] saw a dramatic 30 point drop on start of trading, GCT 00:00 hrs, at the Lave Central Exchange.
The crash is thought to put at risk 100,000's shipyard jobs galaxy wide and is widely blamed on the recent announcement from a joint Federation, Empire and Alliance taskforce of a large increase in tariffs on all passenger operations bubble wide.
A joint statement declared that additional revenue is "needed to fund human operations against the Thargoid menace in the Pleiades sector" but this has received a particularly frosty reception from industry insiders who stated this was simply a tax grab that will damage the galactic economy at a time when we need to maximize revenues and ensure shipyards are well funded.
The overnight announcement of massive increases in passenger tax and fuel tariffs have collapsed the pleasure and business passenger market and many key hubs across the bubble have reported that operations have all but halted. One operator at the Hopkins Dock in Wolf 562 said today:
Shipyards in the rim systems offering cheap storage are already reporting a massive increase in inquiries, a yard owner in the Col 285 Sector is philosophical
At Emex LLC yards in HIP 93084 the increased activity can already be seen from space.

This of course will have a knock on effect with the support industry and I can only say I feel badly for those left without work in these uncertain times.
I just don't know what's going to happen to the passengers left stranded."

"every cloud has a silver lining, we're already having to bump prices by 150% and expect to be recruiting soon."
