House rules: ironman and FA off. Also opted to enjoy a slower paced and planet based game, with modest goals. The Vulture will be my win state ship. Or maybe the Asp E.

Just got myself the Vulture. Maxed out as much as I could, with what I had, but still have stock shields and hull and minimal hardpoints.

About 5k in the bank. 5K!

I am going to CAREFULLY, carefully complete one, maybe two surface missions, get a Hauler or Adder, park the Vulture and save up for those shields. I am tempted to keep the stock hull because I like the maneuverability and the shields on the Vulture are bonkers!

Didn't the OP say "Ironman mode"? That usually means death = clear save making insurance irrelevant.

Yup

No insurance, though I am happy to use that awesome immersive Ironman thingy that uses RNG, with some multipliers so you can see if your CMDR survives...

But now safely tucked into a Hauler to earn 4-5 mil to kit out my V before my current roll goes all out!
