Bridging spiral arms in a clipper

Hello commanders.

I plan on an open-ended exploration trip that may possibly take me all the way around the center of the galaxy. I've decided to do this in a 26.5 ly range Clipper, because I want to travel with class. My only worry is bridging the spiral arms - will I have trouble doing that with this jump range? What are the usual distances between system between spiral arms some 2/3 way along their length from the galactic center?

26.5 LY should be sufficient... I've more than once heard it bounce around that 25LY is the absolute minimum. Now with the 1k plot instead of just 100, the system will probably also find routes easier.

As long as you're not too far above or below the galactic plane you'll be OK. I had 28ly jumps and crossed spiral arms around 2000ly above the plane, tried at 3000ly above and had to drop back down when I ran out of stars at one point.

I did it in an Asp. max jump range I had was 29.9 Ly. it gets a bit sparse but nothing to cause concern. You will have to manually plot the sparse bits, as the plotter always selects the non scoopable stars.

Hi Rox, if I dont catch you on ts before you set off, had a look at the ed shipyard you posted over at ours, you can squeeze a bit more jump range out easily with the power plant, will be on ts later.

I had a Cobra and managed to cross between the arms with a little careful plotting and my jump range was less than 25ly so you should manage fine. Just remember KGB FOAM for refueling. :)
