Can somebody please try to explain Rares and rare trading to me as I couldn't find anything on google

Rare goods are special goods that you find only at certain docks. You can buy them relatively cheap, but can sell them for about 5 times as much if you sell them to a dock 140-160LY away.

And, to add, they are limited in quantity, to encourage you to either make a loop to pick up several varieties to fill out your load, or use them to augment a 'non-rare' haul.
